Tales From the Loop RPG Starter Kit Launched As Boxed Set And For Virtual Tabletop

A new Starter Set for the multiple award-winning Tales From the Loop tabletop RPG was officially launched today by Free League Publishing. The new Starter Set is both available as a physical boxed set and in digital format, as an official module on the Roll20 online platform. This launch is the first step in Free League new initiative to support virtual tabletop gaming for all of its titles.

The new boxed set, containing a new scenario called The Recycled Boy, can be found on the Free League website, at the Roll20 marketplace, and in select retail stores worldwide. It's also available in PDF format at DrivethruRPG.

The Tales From the Loop roleplaying game, based on the wondrous worlds of author and visual artist Simon Stålenhag, was released in 2017 and was a big hit, winning no less than five Gold ENnies, including Best Game and Product of the Year. The game is Free League Publishing's best-selling title to date.

Stålenhag's narrative art books Tales From the Loop and Things From the Flood stunned the world with a vision of an alternate Scandinavia in the 1980s and ‘90s where technology has invaded the tranquil landscapes to form an entirely new universe of the eerie and the nostalgic. In April, a tv series based on Stålenhag's work was launched on Amazon Prime Video.

In the Tales From the Loop RPG, players take the roles of teenagers solving spectacular mysteries connected to the Loop – a huge and mysterious underground particle generator.

The new Starter Set is the ideal starting point for roleplayers who want to step into the world of the Loop. The boxed set contains everything players need to get started:

  • An illustrated rulebook explaining how to play the game
  • The complete adventure called The Recycled Boy
  • Five pre-generated characters ready to play
  • A large, full-color map of land of the Loop
  • Ten engraved custom dice

The Roll20 edition is fully integrated with the VTT platform, and contains maps with GM layer information to maximize ease of use. In its webshop, Free League also offers a bundle including both the boxed set and the virtual Roll20 edition, for a reduced price.
