The HISTORY Channel Highlights March 2021

ANNE FRANK REMEMBERED

Sunday 21 March at 20.30

This Oscar® winning feature documentary is the only truly comprehensive, eye-witness account of the life and legacy of the iconic child diarist, Anne Frank.

Combining surprising, often emotional interviews, photographs, previously undiscovered family letters, rare archive footage (including the only known moving footage of Anne herself) with evocative contemporary film, this haunting documentary has been hailed as “a masterpiece”.

In an act of solemn remembrance, Anne Frank Remembered will air in March, the month in which Anne Frank is said to have died 76 years ago. (1x150”)

ANCIENT ALIENS: THE ULTIMATE EVIDENCE

Mondays from 29 March at 19.35

Ancient Astronaut theorist, Giorgio Tsoukalos, takes a look at some of the most compelling evidence found around the globe to support the theory that extraterrestrials visited Earth in the distant past.

Around the world, ancient structures, carvings, drawings and texts suggest that early man had contact with beings that came from the sky. Could this be true? Ancient Astronaut theorists say 'yes.' ANCIENT ALIENS: THE ULTIMATE EVIDENCE explores some of the most intriguing archaeological, scientific and historical finds that many believe are clues to our extraterrestrial past. (8x60”)

BEST OF MONSTERQUEST

Fridays from 5 March at 20.30

This series takes a scientific approach to examining the facts behind some of the scariest monsters that lurk in the shadows.

The MonsterQuest team investigates the true science and natural history behind mythic monsters such as dragons, vampires, krakens and more. Using new technology, the investigation team searches for the truth behind these terrifying creatures.

This series hopes to find out whether these are simply myths and folklore, or if there are or have ever been real creatures in nature whose behaviours might help to explain the origins of these legendary monsters. (10x60”)

STRANGEST THINGS

Continues Mondays at 20.30

Why does a battery discovered in Iraq date to 1400 years before their invention? Is the Copper Scroll a treasure map leading to untold riches? How did a moon rock given by NASA to a world leader – the Dutch Prime Minister – find its way into a display at the world-renowned Rijksmuseum? Is the spear that pierced Jesus’ flesh really sitting in a Vienna museum? Our world is filled with mysterious objects – artefacts surrounded by questions and wonder that have captivated us, sometimes for thousands of years. But what if we could unravel their secrets and lay their truths bare?

Each show will feature three riveting objects and their stories. Using the latest scientific research, and with access to declassified files, photographs and expert testimony – combined in a unique visual style – we explore the strangest objects on Earth to reveal the truth of what they really are. (10x60”)
