Bluewater puts water at the heart of coffee quality at Coffee Fest Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, August 24, 2026 — Water is becoming an increasingly important part of the specialty coffee conversation, and Bluewater used Coffee Fest Los Angeles over the late-August weekend to demonstrate why.

Bluewater showcased its “Water Built for Coffee” approach in partnership with Bluewater dealer Pro Coffee Gear, brewing pour-overs with Brand Ambassadors Proud Mary, Lamppost Coffee, Moxie Coffee and Be Bright Coffee. Bluewater also supplied the water for Be Bright Coffee’s showcase on Roasters Row. Bluewater founder and CEO Bengt Rittri stressed the Bluewater message at the Café Fest was straightforward: ‘Safer water. No compromises. No guesswork’.

Bluewater's coffee approach begins with its second-generation SuperiorOsmosis™ system, which removes unwanted substances, from health-threatening PFAS chemicals to toxic metals like lead, to provide a clean, controlled starting point. Then Bluewater uses its proprietary mineral mix, LiquidRock®, to rebuild the water with carefully selected minerals, allowing coffee professionals to tailor water to the needs of different coffees and brewing applications.

The goal is greater control over extraction, consistency and flavor – giving the bean, roast, and barista a better opportunity to deliver the intended cup.

“The specialty coffee industry has become incredibly precise about beans, roasting and brewing. Water should be treated with the same level of attention,” said Niklas Ivarsson, president of Bluewater Inc.

“Water is one of the largest ingredients in every cup, yet it has traditionally been one of the least controlled. We want to change that.”

Bluewater's presence at Coffee Fest extended beyond the exhibition floor.

The company joined Bridging Tables and Dalla Corte for a gathering celebrating Frank and Michelle La and their forthcoming Be Bright Coffee location in Koreatown.

Frank La, the 2024 U.S. Barista Champion and a Bluewater Brand Ambassador, uses Bluewater across Be Bright Coffee locations.

The event brought together coffee professionals, roasters, equipment specialists and hospitality leaders, reflecting the collaborative culture of Los Angeles' specialty coffee scene.

“For Bluewater, Coffee Fest Los Angeles reinforced a growing opportunity for the specialty coffee industry: treating water as an integral part of the coffee recipe rather than an uncontrolled variable,” said Ivarsson.
