BookBeat’s First Quarter of 2025: 16 Percent Growth and Record Number of New Users

As audiobook listening continues to grow and becomes an increasingly established part of people's daily lives, the streaming service BookBeat continues to grow steadily. BookBeat's revenues grew by 16 percent during the first quarter of 2025 compared to 2024. The growth is driven by an increasing number of paying users. The quarter also saw the highest influx of new trial users ever recorded by BookBeat, both in the mature markets such as Finland, Germany and Sweden as well as internationally.

"The fact that we continue to increase revenue, paying users, and at the same time break records in the number of new users trying BookBeat is a clear sign that our service has never been more relevant. The strong quarter confirms that we are focusing on the right things, and our goal for 2025 is to continue driving growth - both our own and the market's - across our mature markets and internationally," said Niclas Sandin, CEO of BookBeat.

The goal for 2025 is double-digit growth in all core markets and to surpass SEK 1.6 billion in revenue. In addition, the aim is to further increase profitability after BookBeat reported a positive result for the full year 2024 for the first time. The core markets are Sweden, Finland, Germany, Poland, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Austria, and Switzerland, with Sweden, Finland, Germany, and Poland being the largest. The fastest-growing market in the first quarter was Poland, which in January set a new BookBeat record for the number of new users in a single month.

“To reach our 2025 goal, we will focus entirely on areas where we can be a leader. For BookBeat, that means developing the best service for listening to books - nothing else. We will also continue driving both our own and the market’s growth by improving how we promote books and authors across all channels. The fact that we have reached our current size and become profitable makes it possible for us to make our biggest investment yet in marketing and product development this year,” said Niclas Sandin.

In line with the financial growth, the total number of hours listened to and read on BookBeat also increased by 15 percent during the first quarter of 2025.
