Exclusive Art and Design Preview in London

We have handpicked a selection of world-renowned artwork and rare design classics from this summer's international auction in Copenhagen and will exhibit them at the Danish Embassy in London on 15 and 16 May.

This time we focus on an exceptional still life by the Dutch artist Pieter Claesz from 1625, a hitherto unknown portrait of a boy by the French Impressionist Camille Pissarro and an extraordinary private collection of drawings from Benjamin Wolff's collection ranging from the 16th century "Old Masters" to the Danish Golden Age during the 1800s. Included is also a fine series of Asian antiques from 16th – 19th century.

At the preview we also present an impressive selection of Asian contemporary art by artists such as Fang Lijun and Takashi Murakami along side important pieces by German artists such as Martin Kippenberger, Günther Förg and John M. Armleder. They are all displayed together with Danish furniture classics from the 20thcentury by Finn Juhl, Flemming Lassen and Jacob Hermann along side decorative stoneware by Axel Salto and Alev E. Siesbye.

Last but not least, we show outstanding wristwatches including a unique and iconic Rolex Daytona Cosmograph from 1964-65, identical to the legendary wristwatch owned by the American actor and philanthropist Paul Newman. For the ladies we present an exquisite selection of jewellery including the iconic Cartier "Panthère” bangle set with emeralds and diamonds weighing a total of 15.74 ct.

The exhibition takes place at the Danish Embassy, 55 Sloane St., London

Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers is one of Scandinavia’s leading international auction houses, and one of Denmark’s oldest. It all started on 6 October 1948, when Arne Bruun Rasmussen conducted the first traditional auction in the saleroom at Bredgade 33 in Copenhagen. Today, Jesper Bruun Rasmussen stands at the helm of the family-run business together with the third generation of the family, his son Frederik and daughter Alexa, and the company’s CEO Jakob Dupont.

In 2004, the first online auction was launched, and today the auction house has expanded to include departments in Copenhagen and Aarhus and representations in Sweden, Germany, England, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Spain, Italy, Thailand and the US. About 100,000 lots are put up for auction each year at the traditional auctions and daily online auctions. Here you can bid on everything from art, antiques, modern design and jewellery to books, coins, stamps, wine and weaponry.
