Minis Ready for “The English Job” at Bruun Rasmussen

This October, Bruun Rasmussen shines a spotlight on iconic vehicles as the auction house hosts its very first live auction dedicated exclusively to classic cars and motorcycles. Among the highlights are seven remarkable Minis—a tribute to the small British cars that have left their mark on roads, racetracks, and even on the silver screen.

In the 1969 film The Italian Job, three Mini Coopers painted red, white, and blue stole the show in the movie’s legendary heist sequence. Their unforgettable role was such a success that the cars returned to stardom in the 2003 remake. At Bruun Rasmussen’s auction, film fans and car enthusiasts alike will have the chance to recreate the film’s iconic trio, as several of the Minis appear in the same color variations.

The Mini’s iconic status

First launched in 1959, the distinctive Mini was designed as a compact and economical car with a sporty edge, quickly becoming a favorite on racetracks. The Austin Cooper version from 1961 and the Cooper S from 1963 cemented the model’s reputation as a motorsport icon with victories in events such as the Monte Carlo Rally. Today, both the Cooper and Cooper S remain highly sought-after collector’s items, where correct equipment and authenticity are key to their value and desirability.

The auction’s spectacular lineup ranges from early sports models to rare and coveted editions, including an Austin Mini Cooper S MK1 from 1964—one of the first series of the legendary Cooper S celebrated for its 1960s racing triumphs. Other standouts include a 1971 Mini Cooper MK3, which continued the Mini Cooper legacy with subtle design updates, and a rare 1967 Austin Mini Cooper Automatic MK1, a curiosity among these small classics and now a particularly special collector’s piece.

Small in size, big on charm

These Minis combine British design and driving pleasure with their agile handling and timeless appeal. They can now be experienced at the preview and during the live auction—an opportunity to own one of these small yet legendary cars.
