Rare Collection of More Than 50 Signed Sophia Loren Photographs to Be Auctioned
A rare collection of more than 50 signed photographs of Academy Award-winning actress Sophia Loren is coming to auction at Danish auction house Bruun Rasmussen on Monday, 6 July, giving collectors the opportunity to acquire authentic memorabilia from one of cinema's most enduring legends.
The collection, assembled over decades by a devoted fan, features personally signed studio portraits, film stills and official publicity photographs spanning Loren's extraordinary career, from her breakthrough in the 1950s to her years as one of the world's most celebrated screen stars.
"Sophia Loren remains one of the defining screen legends of the 20th century, and authentic signed photographs of her remain highly desirable among collectors," says Peter Broe, Memorabilia Specialist at Bruun Rasmussen. "This is an exceptionally well-preserved collection that reflects the dedication of a lifelong admirer, who must have spent many years building this archive”
Rather than offering the archive as a single lot, Bruun Rasmussen has chosen to disperse the collection across multiple auction lots, allowing more collectors to participate.
"Selling the photographs individually or in small groups makes the collection accessible to a much broader audience," Broe says. "Collectors can acquire a portrait connected to a favourite film, a particular period of Loren's career or simply one of the most recognisable faces in film history. In this way, the collection can be enjoyed by many rather than just one owner."
The collection also reflects the commitment of its original owner, who is believed to have spent years obtaining Loren's signature at film premieres, festivals and public appearances.
Each lot includes between one and five signed photographs. The lots are estimated at DKK 2,000 (approximately EUR 270 / USD 300), with opening bids starting at DKK 500, making the sale attractive to both established collectors and newcomers to the world of film memorabilia.
About Sophia Loren
Sophia Loren rose to international stardom in the 1950s and became one of the few European actresses to achieve lasting success in both Italian cinema and Hollywood. In 1962, she became the first performer to win the Academy Award for Best Actress for a non-English-language role, receiving the Oscar for Two Women (La Ciociara). Across a career spanning more than seven decades, she has earned numerous international honours and remains one of the most acclaimed and recognisable actresses in cinema history.
