The World's Most Sought-after Wines Sold at a Danish Record Price

On Sunday afternoon, Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers in Copenhagen sold a case of magnum bottles from the world-renowned French Domaine de la Romanée Conti for a hammer price of DKK 290,000 (€ 50,000 including buyer’s premium), which is a Danish record.

"Yesterday's record price was achieved by a case of magnum bottles from 1987. All the bottles are incredibly well-preserved and have been stored perfectly since they were purchased and imported to Denmark in 1990 by a Danish wine collector. This is the genuine article," says Bruun Rasmussen's wine expert Henrik Christensen.

Both the condition of the bottles and the exterior such as the labels and capsules are all 100% intact and in very fine shape. The original wooden case accompanies the beautiful magnum bottles, which, as something very rare, carry the serial numbers 000001, 000001, 000001. For the three bottles of La Tâche in the case the numbers are 000004, 000005, 000006.

Domaine de la Romanée Conti

The wines from the famous Domaine de la Romanée Conti are extremely sought-after on the auction markets around the world. Since the wines are limited and only offered to regular customers, the bottles that appear at Bruun Rasmussen's auctions often go for very high prices. Domaine de la Romanée Conti is without a doubt one of the world's strongest brands. Everyone in the wine industry knows "DRC", "Conti", "La Tâche", "The Domaine" – the names heard when talking about wines from the domain at the heart of Burgundy, Vosne Romanée.

Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers is one of Scandinavia’s leading international auction houses, and one of Denmark’s oldest. It all started on 6 October 1948, when Arne Bruun Rasmussen conducted the first traditional auction in the saleroom at Bredgade 33 in Copenhagen. Today, Jesper Bruun Rasmussen stands at the helm of the family-run business together with the third generation of the family, his son Frederik and daughter Alexa, and the company’s CEO Jakob Dupont.

In 2004, the first online auction was launched, and today the auction house has expanded to include departments in Copenhagen and Aarhus and representations in Sweden, Germany, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Spain, Italy, Thailand and the US. About 100,000 lots are put up for auction each year at the traditional auctions and daily online auctions. Here you can bid on everything from art, antiques, modern design and jewellery to books, coins, stamps, wine and weaponry.
