This electric hydrofoil is the perfect superyacht tender

The Candela Seven electric hydrofoil is the perfect superyacht tender for those who love performance but don’t want to sacrifice sustainability

With a top speed of 30 knots and an endurance of 2,5 hours at 20 knots, the 7.7m Swedish-made Seven is the first true long-range and high-speed electric tender on the market.

Thanks to the hydrofoils, wings slung under the hull, the carbon-fiber and lightweight boat soars above chop and wake.

The hydrofoils reduce the friction from the water, but they also reduce slamming by 90 percent.

“The Candela Seven is a really exciting, market-first that offers a combination of two of the most popular trends in superyachting right now: electric toys and hydrofoiling”, said Richard Booth at Superyacht Tender & Toys, the leading independent tenders and toys consultancy (SYTT) that has teamed up with the Swedish manufacturer to bring the Candela Seven to the worldwide superyacht market.

During flight, the boat is stabilized by sensors and software that change the foils’ angle of attack 100 times every second.

The Candela Seven has retractable foils and a shallow water mode for depths as low as 50 cm, and can easily be stored in a superyacht’s garage. A 9.9 kW three phase onboard charger offers a full battery charge in 4 hours.

Candela’s communications manager Mikael Mahlberg said, “By using a clean and efficient electric motor and flying above the surface, the Candela Seven runs significantly quieter than comparable boats. The achieved range is approximately four times higher than the best electric boats currently on the market and on par with combustion engine boats of the same size.”

As well as performance on the water, the Candela Seven comes with an impressive package of accessories. As standard, the boat has an integrated 12-inch multi touch screen for navigation, speed and consumption data, as well as Bowers & Wilkins Marine 6 waterproof speakers, and integrated Bluetooth streaming.

Optional extras include an aft sunbed, bimini, and a foldable cruiser cover. For any yachts looking to customise their tenders and toys, the Candela Seven can be colour-matched to complement the mothership.

Richard Booth of SYTT continued, “For larger superyachts or charter yachts with space in the tender garage, the Candela Seven is a tender-toy hybrid that offers the ultimate guest experience. For smaller yachts, the Candela Seven is a fantastic asset to have ashore ready to rent out for a charter.”
