Soon, tourists and commuters along Norway’s stunning coastline will travel on board “flying” electric ferries. Norwegian operator Boreal AS—a leader in sustainable transport—has ordered 20 Candela P-12 electric hydrofoil vessels from Sweden’s Candela Technology, marking the world’s largest electric fleet to date.
Swedish electric hydrofoil boat maker Candela and Thai operator Seudamgo by Leopard Transportation Co., Ltd. entered an agreement for 10 Candela P-12 electric hydrofoil ferries to initially operate on the route between the mainland and Koh Kood in Trat province. This marks the largest electric hydrofoil vessel deployment in South East Asia.
Lake Tahoe skiers will reach the slopes faster aboard the first electric hydrofoil ferry, the Candela P-12. As the U.S.' first zero-emission hydrofoiling ferry, it will significantly reduce travel times for both Tahoe locals and visitors, offering a much-needed north-south connection across the lake.
