So what have Champagne Club by Richard Juhlin been up to lately ? Quite a lot actually !

EARLY AUTUMN CHAMPAGNES VIBES ...

As the leaves begin to paint the world with hues of amber and crimson, there's a certain magic in the air that calls for celebration. The gentle nip of autumn arrives, and with it, the perfect occasion to gather cherished friends for a sublime Champagne soirée.

Imagine a cozy setting, where the crackling fireplace casts a warm glow, echoing the effervescent spirit of the Champagne that awaits. As the air carries the comforting scent of fallen leaves and woodsmoke, laughter and conversation fill the room, intertwining with the delicate symphony of clinking glasses.

With each flute raised, a world of bubbles dances within, a kaleidoscope of flavors and aromas waiting to be savored. The Champagne, like the season itself, reveals layers of richness and depth – a harmonious blend of golden apple, toasted brioche, and hints of pear, reminiscent of the orchards that once bore the summer's fruit.

As the evening unfolds, a gastronomic journey unfolds before you. Plates adorned with autumnal delights make their way to the table, a medley of earthly pleasures that perfectly complement the Champagne's effervescence. Velvety butternut squash soup, roasted root vegetables drizzled with honey, and a medley of wild mushrooms celebrate the bounties of the season, inviting each guest to indulge in the symphony of flavors.

Amidst heartfelt toasts and stories shared, the Champagne flows like a river of merriment. Its golden effulgence mirrors the golden foliage outside, capturing the essence of fall's embrace. This gathering of kindred spirits, an ode to friendship and togetherness, mirrors the beauty of the season's transition – a time to reflect, appreciate, and relish in the company of those who warm our hearts.

And as the evening winds down, the stars twinkle overhead, mirroring the Champagne's delicate bubbles that once danced within our glasses. The memories created, like the taste of that exceptional Champagne, linger long after the glasses are set aside, a testament to the beauty of autumn, friendship, and the art of indulgence.

CHAMPAGNE STORIES. ...

CHAMPAGNE CELLAR UNDER THE SEA - Veuve Clicquot

Richard Juhlin was invited again to Silverskär in the archipelago of Åland to taste Veuve Clicquot – Cellared in the Sea.

Since the magnificent champagne find was made on the wreck outside Åland’s Silverskär, there has been a beautiful connection between Champagne and the Åland population. It’s been more than a decade since the first bottles of Juglar and Veuve Clicquot from 1840 were salvaged and auctioned off at record prices before the world’s fascinated eyes. Already when I had my first meeting on Åland as an exclusive consultant for the Åland Landscape Government, it was clear that the most important thing for the Åland people was to put Åland on the map, and they have certainly done that. Unfortunately, it went exactly as I predicted in my “Juhlin report”.

19th CENTURY BOTTLE ? by Joseph Perrier

Björnstierne Antonsson got a proper history lesson win June in the village of Châlons-en-Champagne, in the Marne river valley. The tasting spanning 154 vintages between 1860s-2014.

The prologue was a tasting of a vertical of old vintages: the vintages, 2004, 2002, in magnum Collection Réserve Héritage which will be released this autumn, Esprit de Victoria Blanc de Blancs 2000 and the vintages 1989, 1982, 1973 and 1953! But obviously the highlight of the show, dare we say, was this famous bottle dating from the Belle Époque. An Aÿ Carte d’Or bottle dated between 1860 and 1905 according to the label of the bottle.

CHAMPAGNE LEGENDS – Henriot Memories 1964 & 1954

On a fine pre-summers day in June TheChampagneSommelier was invited to Les Aulnois – the petit château belonging to Champagne Henriot – to taste 1964 & 1954.

TheChampagneSommelier was invited again with some influential Champagne critics to celebrate HENRIOT MEMORIES with the cellar master Alice Tétienne & Richard Moreau (CEO of Champagne Henriot). On the evening of the 7th of June we met up at the humble but stylish estate of ‘Les Aulnois’ in Pierry. I just love how the people of in Champagne has that special touch how to blend historical buildings & put a certain modern touch to it.

Together with Champagne colleagues we were up for a truely magical day. We took a historical walk through history in the eyes of Henriots wine makers.

[featured partnership by Vigneron ]

In our world, it is wine masters – Vignerons – who are the heroes behind the production of wine.

After 20 years of experience with wine coolers, wine storage cabinets and wine cellars, we created Vigneron. Vigneron are high-quality wine coolers with a wide range for all spaces in the home and a range of accessories that give you exactly the wine storage you are looking for. Vigneron products are equipped with the latest technology and innovative solutions to ensure that your wine only gets better with time.

Market-leading components

All wine coolers from Vigneron are equipped with hand-picked and market-leading components. Compressor is from Brazilian Embraco - the world's best inverter compressors. Fans are from Japanese Sanyo, among the world's quietest fans. The electronics are handpicked from a range of suppliers to ensure the best results.
The glass is high-quality Low-E glass.

Wine coolers created by appliance and wine cellar experts

We who developed Vigneron have been designing wine cellars for over 20 years, in the company we have almost 70 years of experience in white goods. We know what we're talking about, everything from component quality and product specifications to accessories and space for your wines.

Shelves in solid beech wood

All the shelves in Vigneron's wine coolers, including accessories, are produced in robust beech, partly because this is antibacterial and the last vibration damping, but also for the sake of aesthetics. Beech wood is also a very neutral type of wood with a low particle content, which ensures that it does not flavor the wine.

Shelves on rails

All wine coolers over 40 cm wide are equipped with rails where the shelves can be pulled out to also provide access to the rear bottles in a problem-free manner.

Tri-color lighting

All Vigneron cabinets (2022 onwards) are equipped with 3 different colors for lighting, orange (eurocave standard) blue (former wine cooler standard) and white (which is most common) This so that the customer does not have to decide which color they want before purchase, as well as so we don't lose sales on "but I want blue lighting"

The market's most complete range under one brand

No brand in Scandinavia has so many unique models under the same umbrella. We have everything from micro size to full size integrated, with or without front. A complete underbench range and also storage cabinets - always in the same quality and with the same eye for detail. If you need to store wine, Vigneron has the solution.

Richard Juhlin is the world’s number one champagne expert, most famous for his skills in blind taste tasting. Since 1998 he has held the world record for most champagne ever tasted, having tasted more than 14,000+ different unique champagnes in his lifetime.

In 2013 Juhlin was awarded the Légion d’honneur. His additional awards include the Chevalier d’Arc in 1997 and the Mérite agricole from the French Ministry of Agriculture in 2002, and in 2003 at the annual Spectacle du Monde tasting in Paris he correctly identified 43 out of 50 champagnes. Juhlin is also credited with arranging one of the greatest champagne tastings ever held, a 1999 Stockholm Millenium tasting event spotlighting 150 of the best champagnes ever made.

Juhlin is the author of nine books, including Champagne Magnum Opus, Champagne Hiking, The Great Tasting and 3,000 Champagnes, all three of which received the prize for ‘Best Book on French Wines in the World’ at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. Another release, 4,000 Champagnes, received an important prize – ‘The International Champagne Writer of the Year Award’ in 2005 at The Louis Roederer International Wine Writers’ Awards at Vinexpo in 2005.

-

’By listing more than 12,000+ tasting notes of Champagne, Mr. Richard Juhlin has established himself as one of the best connoisseurs of Champagne in the world and one of the most influential promoters of this French know-how (savoir-faire). His outstanding work, carried out with determination for more than 20 years, has contributed significantly to the spread of Champagne in Sweden & the world, but also to the promotion of the Champagne-Ardenne region here. In appointing Richard Juhlin Chevalier of the Legion of Honor, the French authorities wanted to pay tribute to his work of passion and promotion of Champagne’

by the former French President François Hollande

‘The Mozart and Beethoven of wine today may be Robert Parker and Richard Juhlin. Robert Parker received the highest distinction in France, the Legion of Honor in 1999 from President Chirac. Richard Juhlin received the Legion of Honor from President François Hollande in 2013. As the Emperor of Austria might have said, Beethoven (and Parker) might make more noise, and Mozart (and Juhlin) may have too many notes, but both are beautiful for everyone and changed music (and wine) forever.'
