Fast swimming Thoren just misses out on podium

Coming off a solid win in the Nordic Ways Beijing Minithlon at the Radisson Blu last Saturday, Sweden’s junior elite triathlete Annie Thoren emphasised her current form with fourth place in the ITU Aquathlon World Championship yesterday. The Aquathlon event consists of a 2,5km run, 1km swim and another 2,5 km run. The 19-year old Thoren finished in 35’55”, one minute down on 3rd place and the bronze medal, but she did set the fastest swimming time of all competitors. Gold went to Mexico’s Paola Diaz in 34’24”. Annie Thoren, who became national champion in her native Sweden this year, will now focus on the ITU triathlon world championship at Chanping, Beijing, this weekend.
