Furetank has secured large-scale access to biogas and from 2025, will be able to operate its entire EU-based fleet fossil-free. Today, the majority run on biogas, and Fure Valö demonstrated completely fossil-free operation at the Donsö Shipping Meet with HVO100 bunkered in the Port of Gothenburg. The Port of Gothenburg views this initiative as an important step in the green transition of shipping.
The first cruise ship of the year will arrive at the Port of Gothenburg today, marking the start of the 2015 cruise season. A total of 52 ships carrying 100,000 passengers are due to visit Gothenburg in 2015.
Cruise tourism set a new record in Gothenburg this year. From April to October, 73 cruise ships visited Gothenburg, carrying 110,000 visitors. In total, cruise tourism generated around SEK 60 million in pure tourist revenue for the city.
On October 4, the world's largest sailing race – Volvo Ocean Race – will get under way. After nine months at sea, the seven teams will finally cross the finishing line in Gothenburg in June 2015. The Port of Gothenburg is the official homecoming partner for the race.
