When measuring and analyzing radon levels, it is important to use a dose conversion factor. This is a separate calculation that allows for an accurate estimation of the health risks associated with exposure to radon.
On May 13th, we invite our international customers to a dinner and a guided tour of Uppsala, the city where Radonova has its new headquarters. On May 14th, we welcome all visitors to an open house at our new facility that includes over 1600 square meters of offices, a production unit, and laboratory space.
Radonova has started a new collaboration with RadonGeorgia for them to distribute Radonova's radon detectors and measuring instruments in Georgia. This will be the first company in Georgia engaged in providing radon measurements for businesses and the public.
Radonova's growth and high demand for reliable radon measurements are now matched by the company's new facilities in Uppsala. Since the end of last year, Radonova has been working in customized facilities that house a production unit, offices, and a brand new laboratory, covering over 1,600 square meters.
Radon can be measured throughout the year. However, to obtain an annual average value of radon levels in a home or workplace, it should be measured during what is called the “heating season” for at least two months.
Radonova Laboratories, the world leader in radon measurement, has compiled the global trends in radon measurement and how they are expected to impact the work in the coming year.
In a comparison test conducted by the Canadian National Radon Proficiency Program (C-NRPP), the Radonova Laboratories radon detectors RadTrak3 and Rapidos received the highest performance grade of an “A”. The test was carried out to provide Canadian consumers with an unbiased, performance-based comparison of alpha track radon detectors commonly used in Canada.
Uppsala-based Radonova has been commissioned to manufacture a new highly sensitive radon instrument. The instrument, ARMON, was developed by the Technical University of Barcelona (UPC) and will be manufactured under license.
Radonova recently participated in the 16th edition of GARRM, an international workshop held in Prague that focuses on the geological aspects of radon risk maps. This year, Radonova delivered a presentation on the topic of accreditation and an informative lecture on "radon action plans" in Europe.
On October 3rd and 4th, Salzburg hosted the third annual "Treffen des Radon-Netzwerks Österreich."
When the SPIRIT radon detector was launched just over a year ago, it created new opportunities to make follow-up radon measurements at workplaces. SPIRIT has also provided better conditions for optimizing ventilation and reduce energy consumption in workplaces.
Through a new agreement, Radonova becomes the Scandinavian distributor for the radon instrument RAD8. The instrument is specifically developed for measurement with a short response time in humid and challenging environments such as tunnels and mines. RAD8 is IP67 rated and weighs just over 3 kilograms, which is unique and considerably smaller than other common instruments.
Nowadays there are radon regulations all over the world that determine the parameter called radon concentration. Of all the radon measurement techniques, radon detectors based on CR39 plastic chips are the most widely used radon detection techniques throughout the world.
Bringing together leading experts, researchers, and organizations in the European Radiation Dosimetry Group (EURADOS) conference is a one of the most important events regarding dosimetry of ionising radiation in Europe.
Radonova often gives students the opportunity to carry out various types of internship work on site in Uppsala, Sweden. As part of his degree in nuclear technology at the CNAM school in Paris, Thomas Gumusel spent two months studying at Radonova.
Radonova has received the Finnish Radiation Safety Authority STUK's approval of the SPIRIT radon sensor for use in radon measurement.

Last year’s European Radon Week was cancelled due to the pandemic, therefore there is great anticipation for the 2021 event. The conference is being held in Fribourg, Switzerland and will take place between 12 and 15 October. The event brings together researchers, experts and industry representatives from across Europe and the rest of the world.
