    Opening at Bildmuseet: Art Across Species and Beings

    The upcoming exhibition at Bildmuseet brings together an outstanding selection of artworks which invite the visitor to rethink the human position in the world. "Animalesque / Art Across Species and Beings" presents 17 artists from different countries, generations and backgrounds. Film and video, drawing and sculpture, installation and sound.     Swedish Picture Book of the Year at Bildmuseet

    During its Art Friday with Littfest – Umeå International Literature Festival – on 15 March, Bildmuseet Contemporary art museum will open the Swedish Picture Book of the Year exhibition. Author and artist Eva Lindström will participate in the opening ceremony.

    Bildmuseet: Entangle / Physics and the Artistic Imagination

    Black holes, dark matter, gravity, space and time – these are phenomena that fascinate scientists and artists alike. Bildmuseet presents Entangle / Physics and the Artistic Imagination: painting, installation, fashion design, sculpture, film, digital artwork and photography inspired by the science which investigates the fundamental forces which shape our world.     Opening at Bildmuseet: William Kentridge / The Refusal of Time

    Can we ever truly understand the passing of time in a world in a state of constant flux? As the first art institution in Sweden, Bildmuseet presents William Kentridge's The Refusal of Time. The large scale installation opens on Friday 12 October. Welcome to the press preview on Thursday, 11 October, at 10 am (RSVP).

    John Akomfrah's Purple opens at Bildmuseet

    ​Bildmuseet presents a new work by British artist and filmmaker John Akomfrah, his most ambitious project to date. Purple is an immersive six-channel video installation addressing man's relationship to nature and to the planet. Press conference with John Akomfrah on Thursday 12 April 10:00-12:00, including a preview of the 60 minutes film work. The exhibition opens April 13 at 19:00.

    Opening at Bildmuseet: Do Ho Suh / Passages

    On Friday 17 November, Bildmuseet will open a solo exhibition of the works of artist Do Ho Suh, his first in Scandinavia. The museum’s top floor will be taken up entirely by a large installation of his transparent fabric structures. The exhibition also includes video works and drawings in which the artist explores architecture in various ways as physical and mental spaces.

    Dada is Dada – new exhibition opens at Bildmuseet

    In the upcoming Dada is Dada exhibition, Bildmuseet presents paintings, drawings, documents, photography, collages, objects, sound recordings and films from one of the most influential art movements of the 20th century. The exhibition opens on Friday evening 17 November.
