The crisis as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic is having a severe negative impact on the port company Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP). Despite a series of measures taken to minimise the impact, such as savings packages and the use of the financial assistance package from the government, CMP is forced to give notice of redundancy. This impacts 40 employees in Malmö.
In view of the public authorities’ decision to close the boarders in Denmark and to ban passenger ships due to the current Corona crisis, CMP cannot allow cruise ships to call at Copenhagen until at least mid-April.
CMP continually monitors the public authorities’ guidelines regarding the Corona situation and complies with the instructions they provide. In addition, we continuously evaluate what measures we should prepare, if the risk assessment made by the public authorities changes.
CMP is of course doing everything we can to keep all terminals open and ensure a continuous freight flow. We are in an unpredictable situation where we do not know the final extent or consequences, but where we continuously follow the recommendations and requirements of the authorities. Last week we received a visit in Copenhagen from the PCTC-ship (Pure Car/Truck Carrier) M/V AUTO ENERGY. AUTO ENERGY comes from the shipping company UECC and is a regular guest of CMP in Malmö, where she is at our dock every other week, from Tuesday to Wednesday, for loading and unloading of vehicles. An agreement has been signed today between Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP) and the family-owned Malmberg Group for the leasing of land immediately adjacent to the North Harbour in Malmo. The construction of the logistics facility Malmö Logistic Centre, which will become a facility for reloading, cross-docking and intermediate storage of goods, will commence in February.

The Port of Los Angeles and Copenhagen Malmö Port AB (CMP) have entered into a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on sustainability and environmental issues. Officials from both ports signed the MOU at a ceremony held at the Port of Los Angeles Friday last week.
