Tender process launched for new cruise terminal

The tender documentation relating to the new cruise terminal in Copenhagen is being made public today.

- “As the public tender process is initiated for the new cruise terminal in Copenhagen, this represents an important milestone for us. We hope for a high level of interest and we feel there will probably be a lot of contractors who want to be involved in building a new, stateof-the-art cruise terminal. We’ll know as early as the end of January which contractors have prequalified, and the winner will be announced in May,” says Barbara Scheel Agersnap, CEO of Copenhagen Malmö Port.

The terminal will take the form of two storeys of approximately 10,000 sq.m. with capacity for 5,000 passengers. Walkways will provide passengers with a safe transfer between their ship and the new terminal. Parking areas and roads will be created by the terminal. The new terminal will be DGNBcertified, a recognised international system for sustainable and green construction projects. The terminal will also be prepared for ships to connect to electricity while at berth, as it is already the case with the existing cruise terminals at Oceankaj.

The existing terminals at Oceankaj will still be used. As more and more passengers choose to visit Copenhagen, combined with the fact that ships are getting bigger and bigger, the new terminal is required to meet the needs of the future. The objective is that it will open for the 2022 cruise season.
