Internal Talent Development Drives New Leadership Structure at Hotel Operator

While many companies are competing to attract new leadership talent, Core Hospitality has chosen a different path: six new leadership positions have been filled through internal promotions.

The initiative is designed to strengthen day-to-day operations, create clearer areas of responsibility, and make career opportunities more visible for employees who have already demonstrated their potential within the organisation.

According to HR Director Tina Berning, promoting from within is a deliberate strategic decision.

"We believe in developing our own talent. When skilled colleagues are given the opportunity to take the next step internally, it strengthens engagement, our culture, and the quality of our daily operations. At the same time, it ensures continuity for both our guests and our employees," says Tina Berning.

The organisational changes build on the experience Core Hospitality has gained over the past 18 months through a new operational leadership structure across its hotel portfolio. The updated structure is designed to ensure stronger leadership presence at the hotels, clearer areas of responsibility, and better opportunities to support the continued development of each property.

The six promotions demonstrate how Core Hospitality actively creates internal career paths—from reception and reservations to hotel management and operational leadership.

Among the internal promotions, Jytte Vestergaard has been appointed General Manager of Moxy Aarhus and Director of Operations for Four Points Flex Aarhus Skejby and Four Points Flex Aarhus Viby. Birgitte Nørgaard assumes overall operational responsibility as Director of Operations for Fairfield by Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott, A Place To Hotel Esbjerg, the Four Points Flex hotels across Zealand, Four Points Flex Aalborg, Horsens and Vejle, as well as the two Moxy hotels in Norway.

In Copenhagen's Nordhavn district, Barbara Vestphael Christensen has been appointed General Manager of Fairfield by Marriott and Residence Inn by Marriott. She recently celebrated her 10-year anniversary with Core Hospitality and has held a variety of positions over the years, including roles in Reservations and hotel management across several Four Points Flex properties. At the same time, Oliver Pauer has been promoted from Front Office Manager to Operations Manager, taking responsibility for the daily operations and guest experience across the two Nordhavn hotels.

Core Hospitality continues its focus on internal career development with Anders Haaber's appointment as Hotel Manager of Four Points Flex Hillerød and Sofie Rafn Olesen's new role as Hotel Manager of Four Points Flex Lyngby and Four Points Flex Ballerup.

Anders Haaber joins the position from his role as Front Office Manager at Residence Inn by Marriott and brings several years of industry experience along with formal hotel management education. Sofie Rafn Olesen herself was promoted internally two years ago when she advanced from Front Office Manager at Four Points Flex Lyngby to Hotel Manager at Four Points Flex Hillerød.

For Core Hospitality, these changes are about more than new job titles — they reflect the company's ambition to make internal career development a more systematic part of the way the organisation is structured.

"It is important to us that our colleagues can see a future with Core Hospitality. When we are able to fill key leadership positions with people who already understand our culture, our guests and our operations, we become stronger both as an employer and as a hotel operator," says CEO Peter Haaber.
