New Electrolysis System From Sunfire on the Market
In April, Sunfire unveiled a new pressurized alkaline electrolysis system. According to the company, it achieves an electrolysis capacity of up to 50 megawatts and can reduce overall plant costs by up to 50 percent. The central element is the 30-bar (g) pressurized alkaline stack "HyLink Alkaline 23," with which the modules are equipped.
The system is designed for projects in the three-digit megawatt range. Thanks to a more compact design and its suitability for outdoor deployment, no additional buildings will be required in the future.
According to the company, the revised design is based on operational experience from industrial hydrogen production. Several key components of the system have been further developed.
Christian von Olshausen explained that key factors for increased cost-effectiveness lie in the higher module output and reduced material and component requirements. Furthermore, the outdoor deployment eliminates costs for buildings and infrastructure. Interfaces have been more integrated, the degree of prefabrication increased, and on-site installation effort reduced. The system is based on established technology with validated performance.
