SEFE and Southern Energy Sign Supply Agreement for Two Million Tonnes of LNG per Year
SEFE Securing Energy for Europe and the Argentine company Southern Energy (SESA) have signed an eight-year agreement for the supply of LNG. As part of the partnership with SESA, SEFE will purchase two million tonnes of LNG per year on an FOB basis (free on board). The first deliveries are scheduled for the end of 2027. The agreement builds on the memorandum of understanding signed in Argentina last year and marks the first long-term agreement for LNG exports in the country’s history.
Frédéric Barnaud, Chief Commercial Officer of SEFE, said: “Thanks to the close and focused cooperation between both companies, we succeeded in turning the memorandum of understanding into a fully-fledged supply agreement in just over three months. This also demonstrates that SESA is the right partner for us to expand our portfolio towards South America and thereby further strengthen Europe’s energy security. From 2027 onwards, we will not only be the first German energy company to source LNG from Argentina, but also the country’s first long-term LNG customer worldwide.”
Rodolfo Freyre, Chairman of SESA, added: “The agreement with SEFE is highly significant for two reasons: first, it confirms Argentina’s positioning as a new and strategic international LNG supplier and contributes to the diversification of global supply sources; second, it makes an important contribution to strengthening Europe’s energy security. I would like to thank the SEFE team as well as all SESA partners for their contribution to achieving this milestone.”
