SEFE Signs LNG Letter of Intent with Canadian Supplier Ksi Lisims LNG

In late May, SEFE signed a letter of intent (LOI) for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) with Canadian company Ksi Lisims LNG. Starting in 2030, the agreement envisages annual deliveries of initially one million tonnes of LNG over a period of 20 years on a free-on-board (FOB) basis. The agreement remains subject to a final purchase contract. For SEFE, this would mark its first long-term LNG partnership with a Canadian supplier.

Ksi Lisims LNG is a joint venture between Western LNG, Rockies LNG Partners, and the indigenous Nisga'a Nation. The project plans two floating LNG facilities on the northwest coast of British Columbia, each with a production capacity of six million tonnes per year. The development is complemented by the approximately 750-kilometre Prince Rupert Gas Transmission Pipeline, which is intended to connect Canadian gas reserves to the export terminal.

According to the companies, the facilities are designed to run entirely on renewable electricity, making the project one of the lowest-emission LNG developments in the world. The location on Canada's Pacific coast is also considered geopolitically stable.

SEFE CEO Dr. Egbert Laege stated that the agreement with Canada represents a further step towards diversifying energy supply. Following supply agreements with partners in Argentina, the Middle East, and the United States, the company is now establishing its first long-term LNG relationship with Canada as well.
