Strategic Partnership: BASF and Equinor Sign Ten-Year Natural Gas Supply Agreement

BASF and Equinor have signed a long-term strategic agreement for the annual supply of up to 23 terawatt hours of natural gas over a ten-year period. Equinor has been supplying BASF with gas and liquid products for several years. The contract secures a significant portion of BASF's natural gas needs in Europe. Deliveries will begin on October 1, 2025. The gas will be delivered at market conditions. The agreement supports the company's strategy to diversify its energy portfolio. BASF uses natural gas both as an energy source and as a raw material for the production of important basic chemicals.

"This agreement strengthens our partnership with BASF. Natural gas is not only important for securing energy supplies in Europe, but is also a key raw material for European industry. I am very pleased that our gas also supports BASF in reducing its carbon footprint. Gas from Norway has the lowest emissions during production and transportation," said Anders Opedal, President and CEO of Equinor.

"We are very pleased about this long-term partnership with Equinor to reliably supply our European sites with natural gas," said Dirk Elvermann, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Digital Officer of BASF SE. "Equinor is a trusted and valued partner. The supply agreement not only offers competitive terms but also supports our sustainability goals."
