Uniper and Equinor Conclude Agreement for Long-Term Gas Supplies
Uniper and the predominantly Norwegian energy company Equinor launched a long-term energy partnership at the end of August. The agreement has a term of 15 years. Starting in 2027, Equinor will supply more than 30 TWh of natural gas annually to Germany via pipeline.
The aim of the agreement is to ensure a reliable supply of natural gas to Uniper's customers in Germany and to further diversify Germany's energy supply. Both companies also intend to promote the development of lower-emission natural gas. This will be facilitated, among other things, by Norway's direct connection to the European market via the existing pipeline infrastructure.
At the signing ceremony in Stavanger, Uniper CEO Michael Lewis emphasized the important role of the agreement for the future. Energy markets need reliable and long-term partnerships to remain competitive and secure. "With this agreement, we are strengthening Germany's long-term gas supply and simultaneously deepening our cooperation with Equinor," Lewis continued.
