Aroundtown engagiert sich für biologische Vielfalt - Aroundtown erntet in 2020 erstmalig rund 340kg Stadthonig aus Eigenproduktion

Aroundtown beschäftigt einen eigenen registrierten Imker, der seit dem Frühjahr 2020 bereits 18 Wirtschaftsvölker und 9 Jungvölker auf den Dächern der Gewerbeobjekte der Aroundtown in und um Berlin angesiedelt hat. Aus der ersten Ernte konnten zum Jahresende nun rund 340 kg Stadthonig gewonnen werden, welcher den Mitarbeitern der Aroundtown an Nikolaus verschenkt wurde.

Mit dem Projekt wurde Torsten Hernández Trigo hauptberuflich Imker bei Aroundtown. Er ist bereits registrierter Imker, kümmert sich in seiner Freizeit seit 3 Jahren um seine eigenen Bienenvölker und ist auch Mitglied des Imkerverein Berlin-Reinickendorf.

Engagement für die biologische Vielfalt

Die biologische Vielfalt langfristig zu schützen ist eine der wichtigsten Aufgaben der Menschheit. Als Grundlage unseres Ökosystems trägt sie zur Reinigung von Wasser und Luft bei. Außerdem sichert sie unsere Nahrungsmittelproduktion und hilft uns den Klimawandel abzuschwächen. Daher setzt sich Aroundtown für den Erhalt der Biodiversität ein. Das Projekt „Aroundtown summt“ sorgt für das Fortbestehen der Bienen im städtischen Gebiet und soll innerhalb der nächsten drei Jahre auf andere Gebäude und Städte ausgeweitet werden. Es ist geplant, dass sich die Anzahl der Bienenvölker jedes Jahr verdoppelt.

Aroundtown commits to biodiversity - Aroundtown harvests for the first time around 340kg of city honey from its own production in 2020.

Aroundtown employs its own registered beekeeper, who has already settled 18 economic colonies and 9 young colonies on the roofs of Aroundtown's commercial properties in and around Berlin since spring 2020. At the end of the year, about 340kg of city honey could be obtained from the first harvest which was given as a gift to the employees of Aroundtown on Saint Nicholas Day.

With the project, Torsten Hernández Trigo became a full-time beekeeper at Aroundtown. He is already a registered beekeeper, has been taking care of his own bee colonies in his spare time for 3 years and is also a member of the Berlin-Reinickendorf Beekeepers Association.

Commitment to biodiversity

Protecting biodiversity in the long term is one of the most important tasks of mankind. As the basis of our ecosystem, it contributes to the purification of water and air. It also secures our food production and helps us mitigate climate change. That's why Aroundtown is committed to preserving biodiversity. The “Aroundtown Hums”-project ensures the persistence of bees in the urban area and will be expanded to other buildings and cities within the next three years. The plan is to double the number of bee colonies each year.
