THE HISTORY CHANNEL HØJDEPUNKTER APRIL 2024

ROYAL AUTOPSY

New Season | Sundays from 28 April at 21:45

Royal Autopsy returns with Professor Alice Roberts investigating the causes of death of four of Britain’s most famous monarchs, King George IV, Queen Mary I, King Henry IV and Queen Anne.

Alice’s investigations bring together a unique blend of historical and medical expertise to provide new insight and conclusions that challenge the received wisdom of how and why these rulers died.

At the heart of each investigation is a detailed ‘as real’ autopsy led by Forensic Pathologist Dr Brett Lockyer. Together they search for clues on the monarch’s body, which uses a combination of prosthetic bodies, actors, and ethically sourced animal organs alongside detailed historical research to reach a conclusion on how they died.

In each episode, Alice opens a new cold case investigation to examine the life and death of our most celebrated monarchs. Based on the evidence, Prof Alice Roberts and Dr Brett Lockyer deliver their findings to reveal what killed these famous royals. (4x60)

SECRETS IN THE SAND

Brand New | Wednesdays from 17 April at 21:00

Violent sandstorms and erosion are increasingly reshaping the arid regions of the earth and as they do, astounding discoveries are being exposed.

From lost ancient cities to mysterious geological formations, Secrets in the Sand examines extraordinary curiosities that were once concealed in the deserts of the planet, only to finally be revealed. (6x60)

FORGED IN FIRE

New Season | Tuesdays from 2 April at 20:15

The best bladed weapon-makers in the world return to go head-to-head building everything from Viking battle axes to Samurai swords to Indian claw daggers. In each stand-alone episode, four new contestants battle it out in a quest to prove they can build a particular weapon better than anyone else - and they're doing it by hand and against the clock! Judged by a panel of weapons experts, the race to create the episode's weapon of choice is a journey through weapon history under time constraints with an explosive finale. (7x60)
