Double GT3 Podium for Sebastian Øgaard at Brands Hatch

The opening round of the GT World Challenge Sprint Cup delivered top results for Sebastian Øgaard, who secured two third-place finishes at Brands Hatch.

It was a rewarding weekend for the 21-year-old Dane, who managed to step onto the podium twice at the iconic British circuit. Together with his teammate, Leonardo Moncini, Øgaard clinched third place in both the first and second sprint races – a strong start to the Sprint Cup championship in the ultra-competitive GT World Challenge series.

“We had really good pace this weekend, and I feel there was potential for even more. It’s a shame we didn’t manage to put everything together perfectly in the two qualifying sessions. Brands Hatch is an awesome track, but nearly impossible to overtake on, so it was tough to move forward even though we had the pace to do so,” said Sebastian Øgaard.

The Danish driver, who made his GT World Challenge Europe debut last year with Aston Martin outfit Comtoyou Racing, has switched to Audi team Tresor Competition for the 2024 season. He will contest both the Endurance Cup and Sprint Cup championships in the highly competitive GT3 category. Øgaard is competing in the Gold Cup class, one of several categories within the series.

“I’m feeling more and more comfortable in our Audi R8 and so far I’m pleased with the car’s performance. We clearly aim to be fighting in the overall top 10, and I’m confident we can once we get the details sorted. It’s great to deliver top results so early in the project, and the team deserves huge credit for their efforts,” Øgaard added.

While the next round of the GT World Challenge Europe takes place on May 17–18 at Circuit Zandvoort in the Netherlands, Sebastian Øgaard will already be back in action next week in Belgium for the official test ahead of this summer’s 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.
