Ferrari announces contract renewal with Nicklas Nielsen
Nicklas Nielsen will continue as a factory driver for the renowned Italian marque, which has signed a multi-year agreement with the Danish Le Mans winner.
Good news from Nicklas Nielsen, who will continue in his role as a factory driver for one of the most prestigious brands in motorsport. The 28-year-old Dane has raced for Ferrari in the FIA World Endurance Championship since the 2023 season, while also competing in selected GT events.
Among his standout results is the overall victory at the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans, where Nielsen became only the third Dane in history to claim the coveted trophy – and at the same time secured Ferrari’s 11th triumph in the world’s most prestigious endurance race. So far, his FIA WEC record includes two race wins and ten podium finishes in the Hypercar class. Including his seasons in the GT categories, Nielsen has collected 12 wins and 23 podiums from a total of 41 FIA WEC starts.
Nielsen has also celebrated championship titles in Ferrari Challenge Europe (2018), FIA World Endurance LMGTE Am (2019–20 and 2021), European Le Mans Series LMGTE (2019) and GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup (2021).
“Continuing to be part of the group of Ferrari official drivers is both a source of pride and a great responsibility for me. In recent years, I have had the privilege of achieving wins I will never forget, above all the victory at Le Mans in 2024, as well as the opportunity to continue improving as a driver. With great determination, I thank Ferrari and look to the future with the hope of continuing to win races and titles together while representing the Prancing Horse,” says Nicklas Nielsen.
“After winning the Ferrari Challenge Europe one-make series in 2018, Nicklas’s growth has been marked by many successes and titles with GT cars. That journey took a further step forward in 2023 with his move into the top class of the FIA WEC, where he won the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 499P, confirming his maturity as one of Ferrari’s leading drivers. Determination and leadership are Nicklas’s hallmarks: we are proud to be able to continue this journey with him,” says Antonello Coletta, Global Head of Ferrari Endurance and Corse Clienti.
