FIA WEC: Nicklas Nielsen targets podium return in Texas
Nicklas Nielsen is eyeing redemption this weekend as the Ferrari works driver heads to Circuit of the Americas for round six of the FIA World Endurance Championship.
Together with teammates Antonio Fuoco and Miguel Molina, Nielsen is determined to bounce back after a difficult outing at Interlagos in July, where the crew finished outside the points. Despite opening the season with victory in Qatar, the 2025 campaign has been a challenging one, with the No. 50 Ferrari currently sitting fourth in the standings.
The gap to the championship-leading sister car is significant – 57 points versus 105 – but with 88 points still up for grabs across the final three rounds, the fight is far from over.
“It hasn’t been our year so far, but things can still turn around. Right now, we know the championship is a long shot, but every point matters. We’re coming off a tough race in São Paulo and heading into Texas, where we managed to take a podium last year,” said Nielsen.
“We arrive fully focused on delivering a stronger result. As always, we’ll push to fight at the sharp end, but we know it won’t be easy. The priority is simply to maximize points.”
The Lone Star Le Mans weekend begins with practice on Friday, September 5, followed by qualifying on Saturday. The six-hour race goes green on Sunday, September 7 at 1:00 p.m. local time (GMT -5), live on FIA WEC TV.
