Mikkel Jensen Ready for Final World Championship Race Before Le Mans
Mikkel Jensen is looking forward to continuing his FIA World Endurance Championship campaign as the third round goes green at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend. The Belgian six-hour race marks the final stop before the highlight of the year at Le Mans.
Having scored points in the opening two rounds of this year’s FIA World Endurance Championship, Mikkel Jensen heads into the third round at Spa-Francorchamps with confidence. The Danish Peugeot factory driver expects a strong showing at the legendary Belgian circuit, which, at seven kilometers in length – the second-longest on the calendar – and with an average speed of over 200 km/h, also serves as valuable preparation for the crown jewel of the season: the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.
“Spa-Francorchamps is a place you always look forward to experiencing. The combination of speed, corners, history, and atmosphere is unique, and the thousands of fans really help elevate the mood. At the same time, it’s one of the circuits on the calendar that seems to suit our Peugeot 9X8 Hypercar best, and since it’s also the final race before the big one at Le Mans, we naturally come in with high expectations,” says Mikkel Jensen.
“So far this season, we’ve been able to fight some of the cars that were difficult to beat last year, which is definitely a positive. Obviously, we’re not yet where we want to be, but we’re constantly making progress, and I hope we can take another step in the right direction this weekend,” the Dane adds.
At Spa-Francorchamps, Mikkel Jensen will be joined by his usual teammates, Jean-Éric Vergne and Paul di Resta, in the #93 Peugeot 9X8. The trio will battle 17 other cars in the top-tier Hypercar class. The six-hour Spa race goes green on Saturday, May 10 at 14:00 and will be broadcast live on TV 2 PLAY, Eurosport, and the FIA WEC App.
