The Barcelona Bus Turístic restarts on 2nd of July

  • The double-decker buses will be running again on their red and blue routes so visitors can discover the city’s main attractions

Barcelona, 19th June 2021.- The Barcelona Bus Turístic, operated by Barcelona Metropolitan Transport (TMB) in association with Turisme de Barcelona, will resume service on 2nd July. After being suspended for more than a year due to the health crisis, the red and blue routes will be running as usual and taking visitors to the city’s main attractions. The Bus Turístic is the perfect way to enjoy Barcelona’s cultural and shopping attractions on a convenient and sustainable means of transport from the unique vantage point of the upper deck of an open-topped bus.

The Barcelona Bus Turístic will be restarting as the rules about travel inside Spain and from abroad are being relaxed, making it possible for tourism to reopen along with the city’s cultural and leisure attractions. Initially, the service will run every 20 to 30 minutes from 9am with the last bus departing at 7pm. As is the case with all public transport, face coverings must be worn on board. A 16-language audio guide will be available and a member of our team will be on the bus to help passengers and give them information.

Two routes you can combine

Combining the Barcelona Bus Turístic’s iconic red and blue routes couldn’t be simpler. There are interchanges in Plaça Catalunya and on Passeig de Gràcia. The red route has also added extra stops, including the Parc de la Ciutadella, Avinguda Diagonal, Sants Station, Montjuïc and the old harbour, the Port Vell, while the blue route is perfect for visiting the Sagrada Família, Gràcia, Tibidabo, Pedralbes and the Camp Nou.

The one- and two-day tickets for the Barcelona Bus Turístic, which can be used from 2nd July onwards, are already on sale on our website and at the usual outlets. Over the next few days, we will be releasing details of the special deals we will be offering during the relaunch period.

The Bus Turístic in front of the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site

Originally launched in 1987, as a dedicated service for people wanting to explore the city at their leisure, the Barcelona Bus Turístic has been through different phases, but it has always included the hop on, hop off system. In fact, it was one of the first city sightseeing buses in Europe to do this. The advantage of this type of ticket lies in the fact that it allows passengers to get on and off as many times as they like, see the attractions located near each stop and get back on the next bus and continue their journey. The buses run at regular intervals and the stops are conveniently located. The Barcelona Bus Turístic is the perfect way for visitors to see the attractions they are interested in, at their own pace, and make the most of their time in the city. This is still the main objective of the service, despite the long hiatus due to the pandemic.
