Layton Student Exchange Local Coordinator Selected for Unique Creativity Internship in Africa

LAYTON, UTAH February 28, 2024 - Tara Creed, a long-term Host Mother and Local Coordinator with Educatius in Layton, Utah, has been selected from a pool of global applicants to participate in the unique Aiducatius Creativity Internship in The Gambia. This selection underscores her dedication to nurturing global connections and youth education.

In her role as Local Coordinator for global high school exchange organization Educatius, Tara finds caring host families in Utah communities for international students to stay with while the students attend local high schools. Her work has been instrumental in cultural exchanges at Davis School District, Morgan School District and Layton Christian Academy.

In June, Tara will join a small international group to lead a cultural exchange that promises to enrich both the lives of the students at St Martin's School in The Gambia and the interns themselves. Her enthusiasm for arts and crafts, and commitment to education and international student exchanges have set her apart as an ideal candidate for this unique opportunity.

Tara Creed expressed her enthusiasm at being chosen: "I've worked and volunteered at the elementary school that my kids attended, I've been there since before 2010. I think it will be an amazing experience to see how a school works in Africa, compared to here in Layton, Utah."

The Aiducatius Creativity Internship, facilitated by Educatius, is a two-week creativity experience in mid-June where chosen participants will plan, teach, and engage in creative and artistic activities with students and teachers at St Martin's School in the Gambia. The initiative also includes visits to local artisans and immersion in the vibrant and welcoming culture of The Gambia. This initiative is part of Educatius' commitment to fostering global connections and access to education.

Educatius’ sister organization Aiducatius has supported St. Martin’s Basic Cycle School since 2009 providing essential resources like books, school bags, and uniforms. All students, host families and schools who participate in Educatius’ programs indirectly contribute to this valuable support. This partnership exemplifies Educatius’ alignment with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of “Quality Education,” promoting access to education to build a brighter future for students around the world.

The community of Layton and Educatius celebrate Tara Creed's selection for this international opportunity, which not only recognizes her dedication to education and cultural exchange but also highlights the impact of her work in the local community. This internship is a testament to the power of education and creativity in connecting people across cultures and borders.

Qualified international students on Educatius programs study high school in the USA on an F-1 visa program, and their program fees provide financial support to local high schools, host families and communities.
