Press release -

Madrid chosen as Europe's leading meetings & conference destination for the 6th consecutive year

Madrid has received for the 6th consecutive year the award for Europe's leading meetings & conference destination in the 30th edition of the World Travel Awards Europe, the most prestigious international awards in the travel industry. This award recognises the confidence of travel professionals in Madrid, and confirms that the excellent reputation obtained by the Spanish capital in this tourism segment lasts over time, despite all the challenges that the tourism industry has faced, by receiving this award year after year since 2018.

Madrid will also have the chance to revalidate the title of the best meetings tourism destination in the world, which it has held for four years, at the grand final gala of the World Travel Awards that will take place in the coming months. The Spanish capital will compete against the winning destinations from the rest of the regional competitions (Middle East, Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Indian Ocean, and North America and the Caribbean).

Quality and professionalism

The award also highlights the work of the Madrid Convention Bureau, as well as the public and private agents that are part of the meetings industry in Madrid. According to Madrid’s city council, "they provide the organisers with a unique offer and excellent services with the highest standards of quality and professionalism, improving this very important segment for tourism in Madrid, which last year left a direct impact of 1,715 million euros in the capital."

Madrid plans to participate in fairs and other professional meetings, in addition to carrying out actions such as familiarisation trips. Madrid’s city council declares that "all of these initiatives will have as their main axes sustainability and the legacy in Madrid to continue keeping Madrid's meetings tourism on the front line."
