A garage inspired by Formula 1
Need an even more spacious garage? Why not do like Tom Nylund, an outdoor enthusiast from Finland, who created space and orderliness in his garage with smart and flexible storage solutions.
Tom Nylund is indeed an outdoorsman and like so many others with a passion for mountain biking, running and skiing, he has a lot of bulky outdoor equipment. And of course, storing all this equipment takes durable shelves that can hold heavy boxes, smart and safe storing of his bikes and a flexible system that allow him to easily move around things when seasons change. But Tom also needs space for shooting videos for his YouTube channel.
How is that to come about, then? Well, Tom had envisioned a solution.
“I’d carefully studied how things work in McLaren’s Formula 1 garage! It’s a hectic, sweaty, demanding environment, but everything has its own place which they clean thoroughly when they’re done. A place that is easy to clean was therefore on my list of requirements. I have also been inspired by the TV programme MythBusters and its wall of storage bins that just keeps growing.”
Tom went ahead planning the storage and the result is a really functional, durable and flexible solution, that really fits Tom’s personality and everyday life.
“What I like the most, is definitely the flexibility of Elfa’s system. Ordinary wooden shelves are not as flexible and tend to waste a lot of space. With Elfa's system, I don’t need supporting posts between the shelves, which is great because some of my gear is quite wide. It takes no time at all to lift my bikes down from Elfa’s special bike hooks. It’s extremely practical and doesn’t take many minutes to adjust anything in here.”
