Supervisory Board Chair Gerhard Berssenbrügge will leave at the end of the year / Dirk Engehausen has been appointed new supervisory board member

Stein, Germany. In accordance with the company’s internal regulations regarding age, Gerhard Berssenbrügge will step down as Chairman of the Faber-Castell AG Supervisory Board at the end of 2023. He will be succeeded by the former CEO of the Schleich Group, Dirk Engehausen, as a new supervisory board member.

Berssenbrügge has chaired the supervisory board since 2015, before which he was a member of the board for four years. Count Charles von Faber-Castell, member of the supervisory board representing the 9th-generation shareholder family, said: “We extend our deep gratitude to Gerhard Berssenbrügge, who has provided our company with excellent advice over many years with his extensive consumer goods and brand expertise and a great sense of responsibility. He has provided us with outstanding and vital support during our recent transformation processes. Mr Berssenbrügge has made an invaluable contribution to the success of the development of the Faber-Castell Group.”

“I have always performed my role with great pleasure and commitment”, said Berssenbrügge. “I have accompanied Faber-Castell through a great many changes, and I am confident that the company is well-positioned for the future. I am delighted that Dirk Engehausen will join the Supervisory Board with his wealth of experience from 2024 onwards. His deep knowledge of relevant industries will help guide the company on the right course.”

For more than eight years, Dirk Engehausen successfully led the internationally active German company Schleich, the renowned toy company and brand manufacturer of realistic figures and playsets. He was previously Chief Sales Officer at Tchibo and held various positions at Lego for 20 years, most recently as Chief Executive Officer for the Europe division.
