Accessibility statement for Mynewsdesk newsrooms

Version: Jun 13, 2025

This page describes how the Mynewsdesk newsrooms meet the requirements of the European Accessibility Act (EAA) 2025, any known areas that are not compliant, and how you can report deficiencies to us.

We want everyone who visits our newsrooms to feel welcome and find the experience rewarding. This statement applies to Mynewsdesk newsrooms. Other parts of the Mynewsdesk service are not covered in this statement.

  1. Accessibility Standards

We are working to achieve Level AA compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. These guidelines serve as the primary accessibility reference for compliance with the European Accessibility Act (EAA) 2025 and establish a framework for developing accessible web content.

The guidelines have three levels of accessibility (A, AA, and AAA). We've chosen Level AA as the target for the Mynewsdesk newsrooms.

  2. How we tested

To ensure our newsrooms are accessible, we conduct regular accessibility audits using automated tools like pa11y, Axe and Lighthouse. We also conduct manual testing to review interactions and ensure compliance.

Accessibility testing is performed on a regular basis, with updates whenever new features are introduced.

We test areas such as navigation, keyboard accessibility, color contrast, multimedia content (e.g., captions) and forms to ensure they meet accessibility standards.

  3. Technical information about accessibility

Content in Mynewsdesk newsrooms is produced by the newsroom owner. While we provide accessibility tools within our platform (e.g., color contrast checkers, alt-text fields, and captioning options), we cannot guarantee that all user-generated content fully complies with accessibility standards.

    Main Accessibility Features Implemented

    • Text and Visual Accessibility: We ensure that text has sufficient contrast against the background (4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text and graphical objects), and that text is resizable.
    • Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements (buttons, links, forms) are fully keyboard-navigable, and we provide visible focus indicators to assist users navigating via the keyboard.
    • Multimedia Content Accessibility: We provide captions for all pre-recorded video content.
    • Forms and Error Handling: Forms have properly labeled fields, error messages, and guidance for users to correct any issues.
    • Responsive Design: Our newsrooms are designed to be mobile-friendly, ensuring users with different devices can navigate content easily.
    • Accessible Navigation: We provide consistent navigation and clear headings for users with screen readers to easily navigate through sections of the website.

    Known Accessibility Issues

    • Audio and Video Accessibility: We provide subtitles for pre-recorded videos, and we are working to improve accessibility by adding audio descriptions and transcripts for video content.
  4. Report any deficiencies

We are committed to continuous improvement in accessibility and will keep working to resolve any issues that arise.

We welcome feedback from users to help improve accessibility. If you encounter any barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us at support@mynewsdesk.com
