Swedish theatrical release of “Redoubt,” starring Denis Lavant

At the peak of the Cold War, farm worker Karl-Göran Persson (Denis Lavant) starts fortifying his house. He gathers scrap metal and casts it into the walls to build a fortress meant to protect himself and his neighbours. His efforts are met with puzzlement by everyone but the children. As the construction progresses, so does a conflict with the people in the village.

"Redoubt" ("VÄRN") had its world premiere at the San Sebastián International Film Festival in 2025, and its Nordic premiere earlier this year at the Göteborg Film Festival, where it screened in competition in the Nordic Competition section.

"Redoubt" will have its Swedish theatrical release on 27 February 2026.
