Two of Film i Väst’s co-productions have been selected for the main competition at the Cannes Film Festival, where they will compete for the prestigious Palme d'Or: "Fjord" by Cristian Mungiu and "Gentle Monster" by Marie Kreutzer. This marks the tenth consecutive year that Film i Väst co-productions have been represented in the festival’s most prestigious section.

At the peak of the Cold War, farm worker Karl-Göran Persson (Denis Lavant) starts fortifying his house. He gathers scrap metal and casts it into the walls to build a fortress meant to protect himself and his neighbours. His efforts are met with puzzlement by everyone but the children. As the construction progresses, so does a conflict with the people in the village.

Last Sunday, around 250 people attended this year’s Film i Väst event at Berlinale, this time in the form of a curated “talent show”, where four industry professionals from across Europe presented concrete proposals for change inspired by the themes of the Film i Väst Analysis research project Public Film Funding at a Crossroads. The fourth and final report will be published later this year,
Today marks the opening of the Berlin International Film Festival, also known as the Berlinale. Film i Väst has four co-productions in this year’s programme: the opening film "No Good Men", as well as "A Prayer for the Dying", "The Testament of Ann Lee" and "Lust".
In addition, Film i Väst Analysis is once again hosting its traditional event – this year in the form of a talent show.
