What does a campus experience look like when the campus is no longer the limit? Roland Klemke, Fridolin Wild, and Daniele Di Mitri joined Julia von Thienen for a panel that went straight to the heart of digital education. What came through clearly: online education is not about copying the physical campus in a new format. It is about rethinking pedagogy, community, and belonging for a digital world. The panel showed that the future of the university is not just a platform or a virtual space. It is a place to create connection, shared purpose, and productive struggle. And the sharpest point of all: if students are going to feel part of something, they need more than access. They need identification, interaction, and a reason to come back. 📸: Photos by Jürgen Sendel . #GermanUDS #InternationalConference #PanelDiscussion #AIinEducation #Potsdam

Is AI in education a learning companion, a teacher’s assistant, or the end of academic integrity? Periklis Papakonstantinou, Martin Ebner, and Florian Rampelt joined Prof. Dr. Maren Borkert for a panel that did not stay on the surface for long. What became clear fast: the real question is not whether AI should be used in education. It is how to use it well, and what role humans must still play in learning, teaching, and assessment. AI should support learning, not replace it. That means better use of technology, stronger AI literacy, and assessment methods that focus on real understanding instead of easy shortcuts. The bigger issue is access and capability. AI can deepen the divide when only some people know how to use it well. A strong panel, and a very real reminder that education does not just need new tools. It needs better judgment. 📸: Photos by Jürgen Sendel . #GermanUDS #InternationalConference #PanelDiscussion #AIinEducation #Potsdam

How do we bring students together through technology, rather than letting it isolate them?" Jürgen Schulze opened by asking the question that cuts straight to the core of digital education. His answer was clear - give people a shared challenge worth solving. Digital education is no longer just about access. It’s about connection, judgment, and what we choose to protect. Nihel Chabrak closed with the sharpest provocation of the session: “A machine can transmit knowledge, but it cannot tell us what is worth knowing.” The university ’s new job is not to compete with AI on information delivery. It’s to keep human judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to question alive. 📸: Photos by Jürgen Sendel . #GermanUDS #InternationalConference #AIinEducation #DigitalUniversity #Potsdam

How should organizations and institutions close the skills gap? In her keynote, Johanna Heise made a clear point: corporate learning has moved past nice-to-have territory. Continuous #learning is now a strategic necessity, because the pace of change is simply too fast for one-off training to keep up. She showed how the shift is already happening: - from classroom to cloud, - from static content to on-demand learning, - from broad training to personalized upskilling, - from short-term hiring to long-term talent building. And the bigger message was even stronger: #AI is changing how we learn, but it does not replace the human side of learning. Leadership, culture, and the willingness to keep learning are what actually make the difference. A keynote with a very practical takeaway: if companies want to stay relevant, they need to grow their own talent. 📸: Photos by Jürgen Sendel . #GermanUDS #InternationalConference #AIinEducation #DigitalUniversity #Potsdam
