  • Gothenburg named the best logistics location in Sweden

    The Gothenburg region tops the list when leading Swedish industry magazine Intelligent Logistik annually ranks Sweden's best logistics locations. As Sweden's largest cargo hub, the Port of Gothenburg plays a decisive role in the award according to the jury, who state that the port's infrastructure, investment program and growing cargo volumes form a good basis for future growth in the region.

  • The Port of Gothenburg’s inspection vessel to be electrified

    Having been in service around the clock as an inspection vessel at the Port of Gothenburg since 1979, it’s now time for M/S Hamnen to be converted to run on electrical power. This means the vessel can be expected to remain in the port’s service for many years to come.

  • New container line connects the Port of Gothenburg with Iceland

    On April 5, the shipping company Samskip will call at APM Terminals in the Port of Gothenburg for the first time. The traffic will serve the container terminal every week and then sail on to Faroese Runavik and Reykjavik in Iceland, then arriving in Rotterdam four days later.

  • Electric trucks now in use for container traffic at the Port of Gothenburg

    Skaraslättens Transport is Sweden’s biggest provider of container transport on the roads, hauling 850-900 containers daily to all Swedish container ports. The lion share goes to the Port of Gothenburg, and today the haulage company deployed two electric trucks on container flows to the port – with a third truck joining them shortly.

  • All time high for cruise ships in Gothenburg

    A total of 81 cruise ships called at the Port of Gothenburg in 2022. That is seven calls more than the previous record season of 2014. “It is a big increase following of the pandemic, even though it is other tragic circumstances that are behind the upturn to a large extent,” says Nicole Brattåsen, Cruise Operations Manager at the Gothenburg Port Authority.

  • The Port of Gothenburg wins prestigious environmental prize

    The Port of Gothenburg has been awarded the Energy Globe Award for the port’s Railport Scandinavia railway network, which has resulted in an annual reduction of 60,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. The award was presented to the port on Friday at a ceremony at the Port of Gothenburg.

  • The Port of Gothenburg in the lead at COP27 when shipping is to be decarbonized

    Three Port of Gothenburg projects for a green transformation of shipping have been selected by the Swedish government to constitute Sweden's contribution to the international initiative Green Shipping Challenge. The initiative is led by the US and Norway and was launched earlier this week at the COP27 climate summit in Sharm-el-Sheikh.

  • New LNG battery hybrid vessel in traffic at the Port of Gothenburg

    A newly built ship with special environmental and climate characteristics was christened at the Port of Gothenburg on Wednesday. The vessel in question is an LNG/battery hybrid ship that already today meets IMO's 2030 target for shipping's carbon dioxide efficiency. The vessel will call at the Port of Gothenburg every week.

  • New intermodal terminal operator at the Port of Gothenburg

    One of the terminals at the Port of Gothenburg is now getting a new operator. Arken Intermodal Terminal at the Outer Ports will be operated from now on by the terminal company Gothenburg Roro Terminal. The recently signed lease agreement comes into force on 11 December and is valid for three years.
