The European Commission (EC) has signed the €150M grant agreement to continue funding the Graphene Flagship’s research and innovation on graphene and related materials from 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2023. With this signature, the EC continues its commitment to support the €1B Flagship project, which began in 2013.
The Graphene Flagship and leading European industries will co-fund a total of 92 MEUR to catalyse the commercialisation of graphene-enabled products. The eleven projects will be presented during a press conference at hotel NH Brussels EU Berlaymont on Monday 9 December 2019 at 11.00am CET.
Director General of DG CONNECT at the European Commission, Roberto Viola, visited the Graphene Pavilion at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 this morning. In a meeting with the director of the Graphene Flagship, Jari Kinaret, he discovered the ways in which graphene will enable better connectivity.
Bringing together 118 academic and industrial partners in 12 research and innovation projects and 1 coordination and support project, the Graphene Flagship initiative will continue to advance Europe’s strategic autonomy in technologies that rely on graphene and other 2D materials. The initiative, which builds on the previous 10-years of the Graphene Flagship, is funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme. The 2D-Experimental Pilot Line, addressing the challenges of upscaling 2D material production processes for the semiconductor industry, is another key component of the Graphene Flagship ecosystem.
