    ​The direct line, with three trains a week in each direction, is not only the fastest transportation alternative, it is also a more reliable and climate-smart alternative. Not only does it reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 63% compared with road freight over the same distance, it also decreases road congestion.

  • ​Holmen chooses Green Cargo’s climate-smart trains

    Holmen has taken a new step in its sustainable strategy work. Holmen’s largest forest holdings are located in northern Sweden, while much of its industrial production takes place in the south. To secure its wood supply and add value to its own forest, Holmen is now going to be transporting its wood south on trains from Green Cargo.

  • ​Mellanskog switches to climate-smart transportation with Green Cargo

    The most efficient way to reduce climate impact from transportation is to transfer freight from the road network to the railways. In October, Mellanskog and Green Cargo entered a new partnership agreement under which woodchips will now be transported by rail instead of by road. This will result in safe, more efficient and more environmentally friendly shipments.

  • ​Green Cargo designated as one of Volvo Cars’ specially qualified suppliers

    Volvo Cars’ sustainability day in Gothenburg on Thursday concluded with awarding the international Volvo Cars Quality of Excellence prize. Several hundred participants from all over the world were there, including Marcus Wiklund and Clas Svensson from Green Cargo. Along with the other nominated suppliers, Green Cargo had the honor of accepting the Volvo Cars prize.

  • ​Green Cargo’s Chairman joins Government’s freight transport advisory council

    The Government has resolved to create a national freight transport advisory council, tasked with contributing to efforts to promote efficient, high capacity and sustainable freight transportation, and with implementing the freight transport strategy. Green Cargo’s Chairman Jan Sundling has been asked to join the council.

  • Söderenergi renews contract with Green Cargo

    ​Green Cargo’s agreement with Söderenergi covering the transportation of biofuel from fuel suppliers across Sweden to the company’s fuel terminal in Nykvarn dates back to 2009, and is now being renewed for a further three years.

  • ​Domsjö Fiber chooses rail transportation through new agreement with Green Cargo

    The greatest reduction in the climate impact of transportation stems from moving cargo to rail. In a collaboration agreement, Domsjö Fiber and Green Cargo have moved over 5,000 tonnes of pulpwood a week from road to rail freight for safer, more efficient and greener transportation. The first rail consignment, loaded with lnps-model timber wagons, ran in mid-February.

    Green Cargo invests in another six Transmontana Co-Co locomotives. The Co-Co locomotives can pull about twice as much as a conventional RC locomotive and will be delivered in autumn 2019.

  • ​Green Cargo and Lineas respond to market demand for international rail shuttles

    There is considerable market demand for international rail shuttle services. Green Cargo and the Belgium firm, Lineas, have increased the number of train departures on the popular direct route, Belgium Direct, between Sweden and Belgium for existing and new customers. On January 12, the fourth shuttle started between the countries and volumes on the trains is increasing.

  • ​Green Cargo and St1 focus on quality and punctuality

    Green Cargo and St1 have had a close partnership for 20 years. They are now extending the agreement that enters into force on January 1, 2018, for a further three years with a two-year option to extend. Transportation is via Green Cargo’s single-commodity trains, which provide a moving logistics warehouse between the refinery and the depot.

  • ​Climate-smart deliveries of Italian wine with Green Cargo

    Every year, via its Italy Direct route, Green Cargo transports around 200 large wagons of wine from Italy and 300 smaller wagons of wine from Malmö to Stockholm in collaboration with Scanlog, Scandinavian Logistics Partners AB.
