TREKKING PRO – HEADING FAR OUT INTO THE WILDERNESS

Leaving the sounds of the city far behind for an adventure in pristine terrain while on the hunt for the ultimate near-nature experience. Heading far out into the wilderness to places that few know about and even fewer have visited. These are the destinations of professional adventurers, and it is for them Haglöfs has developed Trekking Pro.

Trekking Pro gathers all of Haglöfs’ high performance Trekking products in one collection. Clothing, backpacks and shoes that have been developed primarily for professionals such as adventurers, nature photographers, guides and survival instructors. Products that are uncompromising in their function and quality.

In Spring/Summer 2016 Haglöfs is introducing several new and updated Trekking Pro products that provide even more opportunities for users to adapt their equipment to their specific needs. New for the season is also that several of Haglöfs’ Trekking Pro products have been equipped with reflectors that are part of RECCO’s new helicopter-based search and rescue system.

One of this season’s new additions is RUGGED MOUNTAIN PRO PANT, the big brother to one of Haglöfs’ most well-known and well-liked Trekking pants, RUGGED MOUNTAIN PANT. The new Pro model is a softshell pant made from Windstopper® for improved protection from the harsh, and changing, weather in the Scandinavian mountains or places with similar weather conditions. The pant is reinforced in exposed areas and has been equipped with longer ventilation openings for improved comfort. A RECCO reflector has been integrated into the right pant leg to improve searchability during rescue missions.

The layering principle even in shoes

One of the season’s biggest new products is BARKEN – Haglöfs’ first shell hiking boot. Using layering to regulate and optimize the body’s temperature has been a guiding principle in Haglöfs’ clothing for a long time. BARKEN brings this idea to shoes, as well.

BARKEN is made from a sustainable premium leather from one of Europe’s leading tanneries, both in terms of quality and environmental work. The single layer construction means that it is possible to extend the season by adding an extra pair of socks – so the boot has also been given a wider fit. BARKEN offers immediate comfort and does not need to be “broken in”, as many other leather boots do. For the advanced user, the single layer construction also represents a safety aspect - if the boot gets wet, it is significantly easier to dry than a boot with a membrane. Because of its sustainable leather and a midsole made from recycled EVA, Haglöfs classifies BARKEN as a Take Care product. A RECCO reflector has been integrated into the left tongue to improve searchability in the event of an accident.

About RECCO SAR-1

RECCO has been used for more than 30 years in professional rescue operations throughout the world to find people caught in avalanches. There are two parts to the system: a hand-held detector that is used by rescue personnel and a reflector that has been integrated into skiing clothing, helmets, boots, etc. In recent years RECCO has developed a new helicopter-based detector, SAR-1 (Search and Rescue Detector), which can be used to search large areas of mountainous terrain, forest or lakes and the ocean. It only takes a few minutes to search one square kilometer thanks to a search radius of 200 m and an air speed of 130 km/hr. Haglöfs is one of the few brands that has been invited to participate in this project at an early stage. Other brands and applications include MB helmets from POC, climbing harnesses from Beal and backpacks from Ortovox.

Welcome to Haglöfs!

We come from Sweden, a country of extreme weather and extensive landscape. A place where the outdoors isn’t just a far off place, it’s in the fabric of our culture and community. We are committed to creating gear that will support anyone, anywhere in their own outdoor adventure. We were founded in 1914 by Wiktor Haglöf, a visionary with a dream and a toolbox. Our story has evolved from humble beginnings, and we’ve ventured into new territory, creating technical designs that set a new standard in craftsmanship.

At Haglöfs, we are Outsiders by Nature. We draw outside the lines, think outside the box, and live outside our comfort zones. We encourage exploration both physically and mentally through embracing the outdoors. We believe that everyone can experience the outdoors, and do all we can to ensure that it will still be there for future generations to explore.
