Back to the powder in Vassi GTX Pro II. All the conditions aligned for @rohrmoserroman, adding up to an epic day on Hintertux Glacier. “It was maybe the first proper powder day this year. There wasn’t much base, though, and it was really sharky, and just a few spots looked really good in the late afternoon light! It's crazy that we went back with headlamps at not even 5 pm, when we sometimes have light for another 3-4 hours in the spring!” 📷: @elieberl #haglöfs #outsidersbynature

Austria native @takemetoalaska_ is no stranger to the mountains, having spent countless hours hiking and mountaineering across the Alps. Yet, her first experience with Swedish snow revealed just how distinct Scandinavia’s winter landscapes can be. “The Alps are higher, of course, and you get a lot more elevation in a short distance, especially in Tyrol, where I’m based. In Sweden, it felt more open and white — the landscape just stretches out in a different way. Also, the temperatures feel a bit different.” “When we were here, it was May, and the conditions weren’t perfect — it had rained the day before… But I think if you hit perfect conditions here in Sweden, it would be just as amazing as in the Alps.” #haglöfs #outsidersbynature

Born from the northern wilderness, the Vassi set carries the spirit of Vassitjåkka — a mountain of contrasts and freedom. @perjonssonohlin grew up where the wind meets its peak, shaping both him and the first Vassi set. Today, the Vassi GTX Pro II Set stands as a testament to that vision, enabled by our trusted partner @goretexbrand. Built for confidence and safety in harsh conditions, it lets you move effortlessly through sun, storms, and biting cold. “I’ve been part of Haglöfs for nearly 20 years, and the mountains have always been central to my life. My connection to Vassi reaches back to childhood, when I spent much of my time at the foot of Vassitjåkka. My parents ran a small mountain lodge there, Katterjokk Turiststation. Vassi was always the mountain of my dreams, the peak I longed to climb as a child.” “When I was finally old enough to climb Vassitjåkka, I understood its true greatness. The exceptional skiing, the varied terrain, and the way it offers something for every type and level of skier. It’s a beautiful mountain with a powerful presence, one that carries deep emotion for me and draws me back time and again. So when the opportunity came to design a ski set, the joy was overwhelming. The kit was shaped by Vassi itself, a northern mountain that can be both magnificent and unforgiving. Sun and darkness. Warmth and biting cold. Calm and storms. In that environment, safety matters, and every detail has to be right.” #haglöfs #outsidersbynature #goretex

Sweden may not have the highest mountains, but when the snow collides with the harsh Nordic elements, traversing them is not for the faint-hearted. Comparing her vast snowboarding adventures, @hennapalosaari considers the ones in Sweden to be on the rougher side. “In France, you might have to go really high up to get the same kind of conditions, but here you don’t necessarily need to go that high. You just get crazy weather anyway. I think it’s about the different elements meeting — a lot of wind, for example — which is one of the factors that can make the weather really brutal.” "You definitely need a completely different setup to stay comfortable here than you would in, say, Austria. There, even though you have big mountains around 1,500 meters or more, the conditions are much milder most of the time. “But I actually enjoy the roughness of Nordic conditions — it’s kind of rewarding when you push through it. Like last spring, when we were biking up to Trollstigen and it was snowing straight into our faces. We camped up there afterwards. The thing is, the weather often looks worse from the outside, but once you’re in it, and you’re properly geared up for it, it’s really not that bad.” #haglöfs #outsidersbynature

Exploring remote new heights — @fuersingerjulian soared beyond the bounds of the ski resort on his latest paragliding adventure in the alps, flying towards Susten Pass and landing on the far side of Grassen Mountain. “Since the approach from the valley is practically impossible at this time of year, we were completely alone in the area. We found a small gap in the clouds and got back to the north side, then flew back towards Engelberg. Just before takeoff, a rather unfavorable downdraft picked up. So we were very happy when we were both airborne, saving ourselves a very arduous four-hour descent.” #haglöfs #touring #outsidersbynature #flyandski

Fast-changing conditions, combined with long, wide, and largely untouched mountain terrain, make ski touring in Sweden a unique challenge. @tom_olivers says growing up in Sweden has turned him into an adaptable skier who tries to make the best of any situation. “Sometimes we ski on nothing but ice and hard-packed snow because the mountain’s been completely blown clean. Our strength isn’t powder — we just don’t get it that often. It’s not our natural habitat. But we’re good at handling varied, difficult conditions. And when we do get good conditions, I think we’re among the most grateful skiers in the world. Because when it’s good at home, it’s really, really good.” "The Swedish way is that you’re not close to much — it’s wilderness, and you have to be able to take care of yourself out there. The climate is tougher to deal with. There’s more wind. It’s colder than in the Alps. And the weather can shift fast up in the mountains. That puts quite a lot of pressure on your gear, in a way you don’t get in many other places. Here, you have to think more carefully about your clothing and safety because you’re farther from shelter, like on Everest, in a way. You’re far from help. It just requires more preparation.” #haglöfs #outsidersbynature
