Kattegattleden wins prestigious award
The cycle route Kattegattleden, which runs along Halmstad’s beautiful coastline, has won the prestigious award “Cycle Route of the Year 2018” at the European cycle- and hiking fair “Fiets en Wandelbeurs”.
Halmstad is famous for a beautiful coast with long sandy beaches. A popular way for international tourists to discover the coastline is by bike on the cycle route Kattegattleden. The route is 395 kilometers and stretches along the ocean from Gothenburg to Helsingborg, with Halmstad in the middle. Since the opening in 2015 the number of cyclists has grown rapidly.
On the 2nd of March it was announced that Kattegattleden won the award “Cycle Route of the Year” at the European cycle- and hiking fair “Fiets en Wandelbeurs” in Utrecht, Netherlands. The prestigious award aims to promote the development of high-quality cycle routes in Europe. The award is based on criteria such as food, accommodation, safety, beautiful views and attractive experiences.
