The Star Wine List of the Year Global Final 2026 to be held in collaboration with Terra Skåne

Star Wine List, the Michelin guide of the wine world, has announced its partnership with newly formed Swedish wine collective Terra Skåne, whose members will host the Star Wine List of the Year Global Final 2026, in June.

The Star Wine List of the Year competition celebrates the top wine lists of the world, and the people who create them. This global awards tour runs from September to June each year, with the 2025/’26 season incorporating 14 different regions in addition to a digital contest to include the rest of the world. All winners are awarded Gold Stars, and those in any ‘international’ categories are automatically entered in the competition’s grand finale, in which these regional winners battle it out for worldwide domination at the Global Final.

Previous Global Finals (formerly named the “International Final”) have been held in Stockholm, London and, most recently, Vienna, with attendees travelling from around 20 different countries to celebrate one another’s hard work over a day’s worth of activities and presentations.

In 2026, the Global Final will be held on 15th June and Star Wine List has revealed that it will be held in partnership with Terra Skåne, an exciting new consortium of Swedish municipalities and winemakers intent on raising the profile of the country’s ever-growing winelands, in the south. Terra Skåne will host the finalists for the day, introducing them to the northwest of the broader region – and its vineyards – with a full itinerary leading up to an awards ceremony during the evening, at which the global Gold Stars will be revealed. This action-packed event will showcase southern Sweden and its wines to the world’s finest sommeliers as they join together to laud one another’s hard work. Attendance is by invitation only.

“We can’t wait to bring our celebration to the exciting new wine region of Terra Skåne in southern Sweden,” says Star Wine List Founder Krister Bengtsson. “It is such a beautiful surrounding and, with the midsummer light, this will be an event to remember for our finalists and guests traveling from all corners of the world".

Terra Skåne was formed in 2025 – a collaboration between a like-minded set of municipalities, and vineyards within them. The alliance takes the form of a marketing initiative, with the goal of promoting the winemaking region of Skåne, in southern Sweden, to boost both wine tourism to the area and wine sales internationally. Participating members include the city of Helsingborg, the municipality of Höganäs, plus Ängelholms Näringsliv and Båstad Turism och Näringsliv.

“Terra Skåne is about joining forces and telling a shared story of the wine landscape that has taken shape in north-western Skåne,” says Project Manager Linus Svensson. “There is immense knowledge and passion among the wine producers, and through collaboration, we want to make it easier for more people to discover Swedish wines and experience the region. And for this, Star Wine List offers the international stage Terra Skåne needs to introduce Sweden as a wine destination.”

All existing Gold Star winners in the international categories of completed regional contests will now be contacted with details of how to attend the event. There are currently nine regional awards ceremonies yet to be held – the winners in the international categories of each one will automatically be entered into the Global Final. Teams from each finalist in this Global Final will be invited to attend the event.
