Helsingborg to Host the 2027 Fehmarnbelt Days
Recently the Fehmarnbelt Days (FBD) in Lübeck, Germany, were concluded. Under the motto “Democracy in Action and German-Scandinavian Friendship”, the city was transformed into a meeting place for citizens and decision-makers from Germany, Denmark, and Sweden. During the event, the torch was passed on to the Swedish city of Helsingborg who will host the conference in 2027.
The event celebrates cross-border dialogue, innovation, and regional development. It also highlights the opportunities and long-term perspectives associated with the Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link (FBFL), scheduled to open in 2029.
“It is an honor to host an event that is future-oriented and focused on development and opportunities through Danish, Swedish, and German collaboration,” says Christian Orsing, Chair of the Executive Committee in Helsingborg.
The 2027 conference will take place less than 18 months before the inauguration of the Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link, marking a pivotal moment for regional integration and connectivity. The new connection will significantly shorten travel times between southern Sweden, Denmark, and northern Germany, making daily commuting and business travel more efficient. It will also expand access to a broader labour market, enabling companies to attract talent across borders and boosting employment opportunities throughout the region.
“The completion of the Fehmarnbelt connection opens opportunities for business growth and a larger labour market. A dynamic region enables further cross-border cooperation and development,” says Anna Jähnke, Regional Councillor for Region Skåne and Chair of the Regional Development Committee.
