HRH The Crown Princess of Sweden inaugurates H22 City Expo in the presence of HM The Queen

On 31 May, HRH The Crown Princess will officially inaugurate H22 City Expo in the presence of HM The Queen. In conjunction with the inauguration, The Crown Princess will visit several of the programme initiatives that focus on sustainability and innovation. The Queen is visiting Helsingborg with a focus on issues relating to dementia and elderly care, and Her Majesty will inaugurate SilviaBo and the Garden of Memories and Knowledge.

It was three years ago that The Crown Princess visited Helsingborg to see how the city is working with sustainability and smart urban development. In conjunction with this, she undertook to become the royal patron of H22 City Expo, Europe’s largest arena for sustainable urban development which takes place in Helsingborg this summer.

It is now decided that The Crown Princess will return to Helsingborg to inaugurate H22 City Expo in the presence of The Queen. The official inauguration will take place on 31 May in Slottshagen in central Helsingborg.

In addition to the inauguration, The Crown Princess will visit several other programme initiatives during her two-day visit to H22 City Expo. This will include the UN conference H22 +50 Sessions, the circular development facility RecoLab, and Havoteket, which is the city’s interactive exhibition focusing on marine sustainability.

During Her Majesty’s visit, The Queen will, among other things, visit and inaugurate the Garden of Memories and Knowledge, a park specially designed for people with cognitive disorders, as well as deliver the opening speech and participate in the seminar “The dementia-friendly city”. The Queen will also inaugurate SilviaBo, a new type of safe and adaptable home for people with dementia that has been developed by the Silviahemmet Foundation, IKEA, and BoKlok.

“It brings me great joy to welcome The Crown Princess and The Queen to Helsingborg and H22 City Expo. I look forward to showing them how the city works with sustainable urban development, but also to hearing their experiences and thoughts on these issues that are so crucial for Sweden and the whole world’s future,” says Peter Danielsson, Mayor and Chairman of the Municipal Executive Committee, City of Helsingborg.

More information about the royal visit will be released shortly. Media representatives can already now apply for media accreditation for H22 City Expo here.
