    Cities have the power to act and push to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. This is the message being communicated when UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe), in collaboration with the City of Helsingborg, invites cities around the world to the H22 +50 Session in Helsingborg during H22 City Expo, 30 May - 3 July.

    From 30 May to 3 July 2022, Helsingborg invites the world to H22 City Expo – an international event with over 300 programme features highlighting the role of innovation in shaping the smart and sustainable city of the future. H22 City Expo brings together over 70 official partners, innovators, world-leading companies, researchers, city departments, sustainability heroes, and residents.

  • Unique self-watering grass system in central Helsingborg, Sweden

    The park "Ångfärjeparken" in Helsingborg, Sweden, has a world-unique self-watering lawn that uses technology found only here and in Hong Kong. The first ever Hydroponic lawn has deeper roots and better wear-tolerance. The technology in combination with a soil moisture sensor in the lawn means that residents get a healthier, denser and greener lawn for a few extra months a year.

    The City of Helsingborg, Sweden, is a finalist in the European Green Capital Award 2023. The City of Helsingborg is one-step closer to becoming the European Green Capital in 2023. Helsingborg’s most prominent successes are linked to how the city has tackled environmental challenges associated with air, water, and noise pollution, waste management, energy efficiency, and climate change mitigation.

  • The MIT Senseable City Lab and Swedish city Helsingborg collaborate on the Future of Public Safety in Cities

    ​The MIT Senseable City Lab and the City of Helsingborg, Sweden, will together develop a research agenda centered on the "Future of Public Safety in Cities". Social media data and public safety data will be analyzed to understand various events that concern notions of safety and public perception of the issue. The results will be showcased at the H22 City Expo in Helsingborg, 2022.

  • ​Helsingborg is one of Europe’s most innovative cities

    The City of Helsingborg in southern Sweden is a finalist in the European Capital of Innovation Awards 2020, also known as iCapital. This is an annual prize awarded to the European city that is best able to demonstrate its ability to harness innovation to improve the lives of its residents. Other finalists include cities such as Vienna, Milan, and Valencia.
