HX Launches 2027/28 Season - Going Deeper, Not Just Further
6th November 2025 – HX Expeditions, the world's first and longest-running expedition cruise company is proud to announce the launch of their 2027/28 season, marking a new chapter in how it explores the planet and continuing to redefine what meaningful exploration looks like. Rather than expanding their portfolio of destinations, HX is deepening their existing journeys, offering more immersive, authentic, and community-led experiences across the world’s most remote and extraordinary places.
From Antarctica to Greenland, Arctic Canada to Iceland and Patagonia to the Outer Hebrides, HX is reshaping the future of mindful travel by focusing on quality and depth in every destination they sail to. Guests will have the opportunity to not only visit these stunning locales with varying multi-day itineraries but engage in more meaningful, local-centric experiences than ever before.
“At HX, our strategy has always been about creating lasting connections with the places and people we visit,” said Gebhard Rainer, CEO of HX Expeditions. “For our 27/28 season, we’re not just adding new pins to our map – we’re going deeper: the ultimate in slow and mindful travel. Whether it’s exploring the untouched wilderness of Greenland with local Greenlandic chefs or designing community-led experiences with Inuit Elders in Arctic Canada, we’re focused on offering our guests the chance to see the world differently.”
Arctic Canada part of the Northwest Passage itinerary: Co-Designed, Community-Led Experiences with Inuit Elders
HX is also continuing their work in Arctic Canada which is also part of their popular Northwest Passage Itinerary, where this year they introduced new excursions co-designed with Inuit Elders and local residents. These community-led experiences offer travellers an unparalleled chance to connect with Indigenous culture, traditions, and knowledge in a way that is respectful, authentic, and deeply enriching. Guests will explore Arctic Canada through the eyes of the people who have lived there for generations, gaining insight into sustainable living practices and the region’s unique way of life.
Antarctica: The Most Varied Kayaking and Camping Programme in the Industry
HX continues to lead the way in Antarctica, where this year (2025) they launched the largest and most extensive kayaking and camping programme in the industry. Expanding capacity to allow more guests to experience the unparalleled beauty of the Antarctic wilderness up close, HX offers travellers the unique opportunity to paddle through icy waters and camp under the southern stars. This programme builds on HX’s legacy of offering the widest range of adventure activities in Antarctica, further cementing their position as the market leader in polar travel.
Greenland: Authentic, Local Experiences with Greenlandic Chefs
In 2027 HX is taking its Greenland itineraries to the next level, further immersing guests in the rich cultural fabric of the region. The 2027/28 season will see even closer collaboration with Greenlandic locals, particularly in the culinary realm. Following the resounding success of Greenlandic chefs in the 2025/26 season, HX will expand its culinary offerings, allowing guests to dine on traditional Greenlandic dishes prepared by local chefs, while learning about the rich history and culture of the region. This deeper, more authentic engagement underscores HX’s commitment to offering travellers an experience that goes beyond the surface.
An Evolution for HX Loyalty Members
As well as the new season launching, HX is also evolving it’s HX Explorers Loyalty Programme, introducing a brand-new points system with four tiers of recognition: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum - designed to reward and recognise their most passionate travellers.
Members can now earn points for every night they sail, onboard activities, and even select experiences at home. The more guests explore, the higher they can climb and the greater the rewards - from exclusive benefits to enhanced recognition across every journey. More information can be found on www.travelhx.com/en/hx-explorers
HX Explorers has introduced an enhanced four-tier loyalty programme under the new tagline “For those that go further.” The updated scheme offers expanded ways for members to earn points both onboard and from home, with automatic tier allocation requiring no action from existing members.
A New Era of Mindful Travel
The 2027/28 season represents the next evolution of mindful travel, where guests not only explore but actively engage with the destinations they visit. By fostering partnerships with local communities and empowering indigenous voices, HX is offering travellers a chance to go beyond mere sightseeing. It’s about creating experiences that are meaningful, respectful, and transformative.
“Mindful travel is at the core of what we do,” Rainer added. “We want our guests to leave with more than just memories – we want them to leave with a deeper understanding of the places they’ve visited, and the people they’ve met. This season is all about forging connections, broadening perspectives, and offering travellers the opportunity to engage in a way that truly honours the cultures and environments they’re experiencing.”
Expanding Horizons, Deepening Connections
HX Expeditions has always been at the forefront of exploration and adventure, but this 27/28 season marks a deliberate shift in how they are approaching their itineraries – leading with depth of experience. Even their brochure design asks readers to ‘Change the way they see the World’, featuring a changeable portrait to landscape design.
Rather than expanding their offerings, they’re homing in on the essence of each destination, ensuring that every journey is more personal, more connected to communities, and more rewarding than ever before. Guests will have the chance to explore iconic destinations like Alaska, Svalbard, Northwest Passage, Norway, Iceland, and Patagonia, all while experiencing a wider range of activities and extended stays designed to offer deeper exploration and understanding.
