Hyke Wins Most Promising Start-Up Award in Qatar

DOHA, State of Qatar – 15 September 2026 – Hyke, the Norwegian company that designs and manufactures fully electric, autonomous passenger ferries, has won the Most Promising Start-Up Award at the 2026 Autonomous e-Mobility Forum in Doha.

Recognition highlights Hyke’s fully electric, autonomous passenger ferries and its plans to develop opportunities in Qatar with local partner MCT Group.

The award was presented during the Forum’s Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony at Rosewood Doha in Lusail on 8 September 2026.

The Autonomous e-Mobility Forum was hosted by the Ministry of Transport of the State of Qatar and held under the patronage of the Minister of Transport, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani. The Forum brought together policymakers, transport authorities, industry leaders and technology companies to advance the practical implementation of autonomous and electric mobility.

The Most Promising Start-Up Award recognises innovation, vision and a strong commitment to sustainability within autonomous and electric mobility. Hyke was recognised for designing and manufacturing advanced, zero-emission passenger ferries for practical public transport operations.

Hyke is currently manufacturing fully electric passenger ferries for customers, designed for practical applications across public transport, tourism and hospitality.

Hyke’s ferries combine fully electric propulsion, advanced autonomous technology, lightweight construction and flexible vessel design. The Hyke F-15 Shuttle accommodates up to 50 passengers, provides barrier-free access and can use the same CCS charging standard widely used by electric cars.

The vessels are designed to reduce emissions, energy consumption and noise while helping cities and transport authorities make better use of urban and coastal waterways.

Hyke sees significant potential for waterborne mobility to complement Qatar’s existing transport infrastructure and contribute to the State’s ambitions for integrated, safe and sustainable transportation supported by innovation and advanced technology.

Hyke is working with MCT Group, its local partner in Qatar, to develop relationships, engage with relevant stakeholders and explore opportunities for the introduction of Hyke vessels in Qatar and the wider region.
